Now that Cubs' scoreboard watching is mostly pointless for this season, I'm just rooting for the Dodgers to lose 2 more games and the Indians to lose 1, because I am that petty.

So uh Chris Volstad is starting a Major League game tomorrow. The White Sox are probably really pissed they've given away the top pick to Detroit.

I knew Detroit was bad this year but I didn't realize they were that bad.

Not that it matters too much but the Phillies and Giants are both a 1/2 game worse than the Tigers.

About the Ks

I wasn't judging the K's. I was pointing out that high K's are part of the game now, along with high walks and a billion homers. Judge is the poster child for 2017 baseball superstar

Are the Twins the first ever team to make the playoffs after selling at the trade deadline?

I was really hoping to say the 2013 orioles, but unfortunately they finished a few games behind the wild card.

Got to be the first to both buy and sell and then make the playoffs.

and then probably play one of the teams they sold too in the playoffs. whoops.

I think its interesting that the Red Sox and Astros open up a 4 game series at Fenway this weekend. Both still have something to play for as the Red Sox magic number to clinch the AL East is 2, while the Astros are only 1.5 games behind the Indians for the top seed in the AL.

The interesting thing, to me, is that the most likely outcome after this series is the Red Sox and Astros playing against each other in the ALDS. So this weekend is almost like a chance to get some practice against the other team's hitters or pitchers. The Red Sox will almost certainly have to play it straight until they clinch the division, but how much will the Astros rest their guys to avoid the Red Sox getting more looks at them?

i was hoping they'd tie for the 2nd wild card, but that'll do

What was your reasoning? Makes it easier for the Diamondbacks to win and they have a better chance to beat the Dodgers? Or just wanted another playoff type game to watch?

Definitely just wanted the most chaos possible.

Barring extreme cases (like some beaten down 82 win wild card instead of the Indians or Dodgers), you won't see me throwing around scenarios for the playoffs like that in terms of wanting certain opponents. For the most part I don't feel any better about facing any particular team.
