Shake Shack may be based in New York, but it clearly has a soft spot for the Chicago Cubs.

The burger and custard chain will open another Chicago-area restaurant in a new Wrigleyville development that's being built just south of Wrigley Field. The Addison & Clark development is set to be completed in mid-2018 and Shake Shack is expected to move in in 2019.

How many innings did you miss waiting in line?

The Mets and Phillies both have decent food options in center field, but the lines are insane if you buy in game.

None - they were delivered to our seats behind home plate (the daughter of one of the guys with me worked for the Mets at the time and got us those seats)

Steak 'n Shake is in this weird food purgatory for me. Not fast enough to be fast food and not good enough to be a sit down place, so I never go there.

I don't want to bump the TV thread and get people all excited, but can someone point me to a synopsis of several things affecting payroll:

1. Where does the TV deal/starting their own network thing stand? Do we still expect that to significantly affect payroll?

2. Where does the video board revenue stand? Is it estimated that they have paid for themselves yet? Are they financing the renovations? How long until we expect that revenue to influence payroll?

3. What's the latest estimation on the cost of the renovations?

I've lost track of some of this stuff over the last few months. Distracted by a freaking world series win.

I love me a frisco melt. I don't like their fries, but if you get them with the cajun seasoning they're pretty tolerable.

Sorry if this has been posted already, but are they not re-doing the upper deck this offseason? We could really use some more bathrooms and concessions up there...

They were planning on it, but the loss of evanstonian as a season ticket holder sustaining them really put a long-term damper on their capital expenditures

No way. They decided to sell his tickets individually on StubHub and make an extra 20 grand.

that original phasing was blown up a year or two ago. there's no real timeline (publicly) for what they're doing when anymore. doesn't look like it, though.

I'm guessing they'll do the 1B side facade on the exterior (to match what they did on 3b side last year), the plaza, the bullpens/foul line seat expansions, and 1B side concourse and that's about it.

Yeah, looks like that got pushed. Sucks. It's going to be awesome when it happens, though.

Sorry if posted already. Kind of cool I guess, but what the world does not need is more college bowl games. I wouldn't mind it if there was at least one P5 conference affiliated with the bowl though. Based on their comments they seem to think that a Sun Belt vs. Conference USA game would sell out because its Wrigley.

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2017/01/05/report-cubs-pushing-to-host-annual-college-bowl-game-at-wrigley-field/

Cubs officials are working to host an annual college football bowl game at Wrigley Field in the future, the Chicago Tribune reported Thursday.

The Cubs believe the historic nature of Wrigley Field would be a great draw, even if the game would be played in cold weather around the holidays.

“Concerts that may not sell out elsewhere sell out at Wrigley,” Cubs president of business operations Crane Kenney told the Tribune. “It’s because of the ballpark, Wrigleyville, Chicago, the history. It gives us confidence that a bowl game will succeed here.”

Wrigley Field hosted a college game between Northwestern and Illinois back in 2010, a contest the Illini won 48-27. It was notable because the teams played in just one direction, switching sides every possession to use the same end zone because of safety concerns with the wall being so close to the to the back of the other.

With Wrigley Field undergoing a multi-year renovation process, the dugouts and playing field will be slightly altered to make two-way football play possible, the Tribune reported. The Cubs are eyeing 2020 as a goal to host their first college bowl game, the Tribune reported, after all the construction work is done at Wrigley Field.

If the Wrigley Bowl replaced some other bowl (I have to think it would), sure, I guess it'd be cool. It would probably have to include a B1G team just to ensure attendance.

Looks like they are enlarging the openings in the wall for the new bullpen. Guess they were able to get approval from the national landmark people.

is crane suffering from early onset alzheimer's?

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2017/01/14/levine-cubs-crane-kenney-outlines-wrigley-field-changes/

“This is a really big year for us as far as the quantity of work done at the park,” Kenney said while on “Inside the Clubhouse” on 670 The Score while at the Cubs Convention on Saturday. “Interestingly, it will probably be the least impact on the fans. Year one, we had the bleachers empty to start the season. Year two, we put in the video boards. That had a dramatic reaction. There were a lot of pros and cons on the video boards and their impact. This year we tunneled below ground for the work to our new seating behind home plate.”

That aside, here's some more info on what's to come:

The Cubs are putting in a luxury seating area from dugout to dugout. The new section will have waiter service and sunken seats that will start at $440 a game. This area will take until 2018 to complete.

During 2017, temporary seating will be reset for the season. The area will be finished in 2018, with additional changes to the dugouts.

“The food stand behind home plate is gone,” Kenney said. “We have torn out the entire lower deck of the bowl. We have gone 30 feet below ground. Below the merchandise stand (behind home plate), there was just deep sand. That had not changed from 1914, when the ballpark was first built. We just excavated out truck loads and truck loads of sand. We then dug down 30 feet and created this new club. This will be called the 1914 American Airlines club. While the fans are watching the games this season, below that we will be finishing out the new club and seating area for 2018.”

Kenney also spoke to the end of an era in which the bullpens down each foul line will be moved under the bleachers.

“We are moving the pens under are bleachers, now they have been expanded,” Kenney said. “That one is a little contentious for some fans. People like to see the players warm up. I have held my breath every time a ball is hit toward the bullpen. I for one will feel a whole lot better and sleep better without (Kyle) Schwarber having to run toward that bullpen after last season’s injury and surgery. Every year we see two or three players who have taken a massive tumble. We have our MVP Kris Bryant take some tumbles. So whole idea protects me on many different levels. We will shift the dugouts slightly toward the foul poles for the 2018 season.”

Other changes will have the Cubs’ office building ready this year by Opening Day. The plan for the current building used for office space on Clark just north of Waveland will be to house the team’s new cable network venture after the 2019 season.
