Crane on the Score said that the Schwarber ball has been put back on top of the RF video board

I might be in the minority, but I wish they wouldn't have done this. That home run was amazing, but it was also one of 6 that day in a non-clinching NLDS win in a season that ended in the NLCS. No need for it to be there permanently.

The scoreboard Schwarbomb was in the clinching NLDS win and one of "only" 3 that day, IIRC. (Also, the first ever playoff series won at Wrigley, not that that means a whole lot).

Not that I think it should be up there. I don't really care either way, TBH.

Oh that's right, he had the oppo HR in the 6 HR day. Either way, the point remains. Awesome moment, not worthy of permanent memoriam given the circumstances.

Except that HR was in the clinching game although the HR didn't tie or put the cubs ahead, it was more or less an explanation point in one of the biggest Cubs wins in the last 100 years (although that in and of itself is sad) and was visually a piece of artwork.

Edit: David beat me as usual

I thought it was more for the coolness/unexpectedness of a ball landing and staying on top of the score board as opposed to the HR itself being particularly momentous or important in the context of that game.

I noticed the new seats they installed in the terrace level are actually a whole new style (and Kenney confirmed that on the radio this morning). I know the rest of the lower deck (field and club boxes) seats had all been replaced in the last 15 years or so, but I hope they ultimately intend to have the same seats everywhere. It's nitpicky but it'd be kinda amateurish looking otherwise. Just not sure when they'd do it, as those areas weren't mentioned in the phases that are being worked on in the upcoming offseasons.

Why did they paint the reverse side of the marquee in their old green colors? Are they planning on reversing it on occasion or something?

No, there would be no way to do that. The attachment happens on the back side and the neon is on the front.

It's just for looks. Eventually there's supposed to be a restaurant/bar there named after the marquee.

I just think it's weird to have removed it and then put it back up.

Crane says it was removed because they were doing work on the video board this winter and didn't want someone to swipe it.

They should be inspired by that and make a huge be-donged version of Clark who just always lets it hang over the edge of the opposing team's dugout.

I think even TT would be on board.

watching the astros tonight; they installed LED lighting at MMP and it's practically daylight in there. have to believe the cubs will retrofit the existing standards for LEDs when the two new outfield towers go in next year.

There's a great photo gallery of the clubhouse here

How nitpicky is it to take issue with the fact that they kinda got Maddon's quote wrong?...it kinda loses something without the alliteration from the way he said it..."never permit the pressure to exceed the pleasure" plus it's supposed to be a quote and it's not how he actually said it basically every time i've heard him say it, so that bothers the OCD streak in me.

Your peasant eyes do not have the divine right to see the glory of the new shrine to all that is Cub.
