Nothing really new, as we've heard rumblings for years, but would be fun. I'd like to see an actual year announced soon.

Woo hoo. I've never seen a team I root for host an all star game. Was too young for Bulls in 88, Cubs in 90, Hawks in 91.

By 2020, the Cubs will have hosted 1 ASG in the previous 58 years

30 teams. 1 every 30 years. Sounds about right.

only one i'd even really care about getting is the MLB one, so yeah, it would be cool.

Won't really be fair that the entire NL starting lineup AND home run derby team will be filled with Cub dong smiths

How many years in the future do they have sites announced for so far? I think 2020 would be about right for the ASG. I went to the 1990 game, had SRO tickets, it rained but would love to go to another one.

They have them set through 2018.

Given the timeline of renovations, I'd guess 2019 or 2020. I'd guess that they might end up erring toward 2020 if they want all the construction (including non-Wrigley renovation stuff like the hotel) to be done in time.

Funny story about this McDonalds.... Excuse me for oversharing.

Many years ago I was politely asked to leave a local Reggae Bar (no longer there) following a Cubs game. My friends were unaware of my escort out of the bar. I stumbled my way down Clark in the direction of the McDonalds. Somehow, I mistook the front door of this fine establishment as a urinal and relieved myself accordingly. Well, the traffic officer working the intersection of Clark and Addison took notice of my actions and promptly ran over to encourage me to stop my activity (it was a 1:20 game). He also found it necessary to bind my wrists together with handcuffs connected to one of the fine picnic tables located at the periphery of this building. Together we waited for some friends of his to arrive and speak to me further.

Anyhow, by this time my friends had noticed and left said bar in search of me. Hearing me yelling from the picnic table, they kindly strolled over and convinced the police officer of my idiocy (and lack of intention to operate a motor vehicle). Finally, convinced of my innocent stupidity, the fact I was not to be operating a vehicle, and the notion that I didn't get out much, the officer agreed to release me.

Alas, I will miss this McDonald's, though the memories I should have of it that are too fuzzy to recall first hand.

I saw my first ever wino there. He was drinking what appeared to be rubbing alcohol.

You never forget your first.

When you're 9 and you grew up in rural Michigan you don't. The memory is indelible.

You're 45 or less?

Would not have guessed that.

Your immediate impulse was to estimate CubinNY's age based upon his post and (presumably) your knowledge of the date of construction of that particular McDonalds? horsefeathering. Robot.

they probably still called them winos back then too

What do they call them now?

I believe the preferred nomenclature is sobriety challenged.

I prefer drunks or boozehounds

i definitely think of boozehounds as distinct from winos. winos are saaaaaad and have serious problems. boozehounds just really enjoy booze (and may well be on track to become winos, but they aren't there yet).
