Looks like the Blue Jays will be playing their home games in Pittsburgh

In addition, the Tweet I saw said that to account for 2 series that conflict with Pirates' home series, the Jays will be the 'home' team in road games against the Yankees and Nationals.

Good for Mookie. Sucks the Cubs didn't have a chance, but realistically given that they're now all but locked in over the cap this year, there's no way PTR lets then do anything fun next winter.

They say “on the Rockies opening day roster” as if its an improvement on his previous situation.

How quickly you have forgotten that the Rockies were projected to win 94 games this year.

In '08, with basically the exact same team (as '07), we won 74 games and lost 88," Monfort said. "But like a great American hero, Forrest Gump, once said, '(Stuff) happens.' And that's what happened in '08, because in '09 we won 92 and lost 70. Most of the people I talk to that were on those teams say the '09 team was our greatest team.

"I interpolated '07, '08 and '09 — I had an analytical staff go through and interpolate those numbers — and so in 2020, we'll win 94 games and lose 68.

Tom Hatch, who we traded for David Phelps, made his MLB debut today and tossed two scoreless innings.

With the expanded rosters, I'm curious what familiar faces/former farmhands will get a shot elsewhere. Rafael Dolis made his first major league appearance since 2013 the other day.

Verlander is our for the year with an elbow injury. Could be out next year also if it’s the UCL.

Might be a nice time to hang it up.

He will come back as a closer and rack up a 100 saves

Verlander says he's NOT out for the rest of the season and just has a forearm strain.

We all know that forearm strains are a pretty minor injury and never lead to a longer lay-off due to a more major surgery. Verlander is a ticking time bomb at this point.

I guess it makes sense to try. If you need surgery, you’re missing next year regardless, whether you get it now or two months from now. So either he recovers and is fine or we don’t see him until 2022.

Looking over the standings... After 3 games, every team has at least 1 win and 1 loss. I'm too lazy to do the research, but I wonder how often that has happened.

Nice post. I am not able to read the whole article here but am just going off the excerpt. It seems like what the author is expecting as far as a direct action plan to address systemic racism in MLB isn't realistic/doesn't have much precedence in sports.

Does the article have detail about what the MLB should be doing instead? On the surface, this feels a lot like the "disorganization" critiques of the Occupy movement. I'd love to be educated/proven wrong

Another good excerpt from the article:

In the wee hours of Saturday morning, a photo of Kyle Schwarber surfaced on Twitter. In that photo, Schwarber was pictured wearing a Chicago Police Department cap with a Black Lives Matter T-shirt. A noted supporter of first responders, Schwarber became the perfect visual of Major League Baseball: He was trying to give the appearance of supporting both sides. Considering not only recent events, but the history behind the creation of the police, one cannot “both sides” this issue.

I think expecting MLB to reform itself is a losing bet. IMO, there will have to be some type of an organized revolt among nonwhite players. But, given these guys are always worried about staying in the league, that's going to be a difficult proposition. The example is Kap in football (out of football), must be weighing heavily on them all.
