I feel like this is a good time to point out that Dusty has a sterling postseason record when his team has a chance to close out a series.

Yeah, but what's @OGSwaggerdick's record?

Agreed with this, I really like the no offdays Division Series. I'd keep this moving forward, maybe have 3 home games followed by two away games for the higher seed instead of 2-2-1? I think both changes probably shift the odds a little bit in favor of the higher seed.

Holy crap, Tommy Pham was stabbed the other night.

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/30102832/padres-tommy-pham-good-condition-stabbing-san-diego

Padres outfielder Tommy Pham is recovering and in "good condition" after being stabbed during an altercation Sunday night in San Diego.

Both Pham and the Padres confirmed the news to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Citing two people who talked to the veteran big leaguer, the newspaper reported that Pham left an establishment, saw two people whom he didn't know arguing near his car and eventually asked them to move.

Pham then was stabbed. No major organs were hit, and he needed stitches to sew up the wound.

Now imagine that there were runners on base and that they got a double or triple play out of this. Why hasn't this been done more?

Like Brett, I think I'm coming around on this. Something modest probably, like mandating two infielders on each side of 2B. (Though there is the sticky question of when they're allowed to cross) But little things we can do to help encourage balls in play should all at least be on the table.

I always thought of defensive shifts in baseball similar to a defensive formation pre-snap in football. It is strategic, makes the sport more competitive, adds another predictive analytics aspect into the game. And I enjoy watching it, especially at the stadium.

Don't take away opportunities for strategy.

Agreed, but to the bolded point, I think television coverage needs to do a much better job of making the viewers aware of at least the general alignment before the ball gets put into play. The only times I get frustrated with the shift is when I think the Cubs have a base hit up the middle or through the hole or whatever and then the camera switches and there's a guy right there. Shouldn't take up too much room on the screen to show a little diamond, and you don't really have to include the outfield.

I'm convinced dude doesn't even like baseball.

I'm thinking not liking baseball is now a pre-requisite for the job

I mean, they're just playing for a piece of metal. What does it matter where they play?
