Gomes, Ross, games maybe not even being on TV.

The universe abhors Cubs fan happiness and is doing it's best to bring us down.

If it's Gomes or Ross, I can live with that. Just not both.

I might prefer Gomes, tbh. Not that he isn't terrible, as a bench OF, he wouldn't be displacing anyone, really.

I can live with one but only because I'm bargaining in a "please don't do both" way.

The video on the main page of the ESPN MLB site is Law, Olney, Ravech, Kurkjan, and Stark talking about the Cubs for like 6-7 minutes and what they can do from here on out. Trading Baez or Castro, adding another pitcher, the young prospects coming up. Pretty in depth conversation they have. And also talking about how Boston really blew it with Lester. It's actually pretty good stuff.

As a backup OF Gomes is fine for me. His BB% was 11% last year (10.9 technically). That's a good commodity to have coming off the bench in late ball games. Ross would pretty much just be Lester's personal catcher and nothing more. If they really like Castillo and plan to keep him and still pick up Ross I can't imagine them giving him any playing time outside of Lester's starts.

But if you get both of them you're effectively wasting a roster spot for someone who could be more useful than a position player who is on a pitchers schedule.

Boras: "It's great to see The Monsters of The Midway are back at it on both sides of town."

Not news but its always funny to see what Boras says at the winter meetings.

Boras on Cubs signing big vets again: "Much like swimming pools, when there’s too many kids in the pool, it changes the color of the water."

Not sure what that means..

It's interesting that in the past three years, Shields' cut fastball usage has gone from 5% -> 17.6% -> 25.3%

Theo pees on everyone when they make an error. But it's okay, it toughens their skin.

I assume he means that you need grownups (read: vets) in the pool (read: clubhouse) to strictly enforce the no-pissing statutes (read: no-pissing statutes).

What would it take to pry away Longoria from the the Rays? Baez + ? + ? +?

I'm wondering that too. Their main beat guy says he's not going anywhere.

.@Jim_Duquette heard the #Nationals were working on a deal last night that would "blow the roof off this place, something to keep an eye on"

Give him to us.

And i'm not talking about Zimmerman.

I don't think the Rays are eager to deal with us currently

This place would spontaneously combust.

And seriously, we're one of only a handful of teams that could pull it off.

Yeah Danny Espinosa would be a solid addition for us.

Harper, Zimmerman, Rendon for Castro, Baez, Alcantara, Cj Edwards, and Pierce Johnson ;)
