And seriously, we're one of only a handful of teams that could pull it off.

I thought I remembered reading something about him possibly having some issues with management/FO that they were keeping hush hush and i've been having crazy thoughts ever since then.

Yeah, even if it was Russell and Bryant just imagining a middle of the order with of 2 through 6 of Castro, Harper, Rizzo, Soler, Baez makes me drool.

He gets so much unnecessary criticism and people forget how young he is because he's been in the league forever. And his numbers are still great despite the criticism.

One in the hand is worth two in the bush (I think Bryant has a high floor but he could very easily not end up a star). He does K a lot...

 

Plus Harper is younger.. i'd imagine he would have put a pretty good hurting on triple A pitching this year too..

Julie DiCaro doesn't report stuff too often but I think she's fairly reputable when she does. Plus she has no reason to end up with a pie on her face as she will be out of a job in 3 weeks.

I would put tier 1 and tier 2

 

Tier 1: Bryant, Soler, Russell

Tier 2: Alcantara, Baez, Castro

 

You can choose 1 from each tier or 2 from tier 2 if you want. Obviously there would be more going back but in terms of the major pieces this is what I would be ok with.

I honestly think the Cubs system is good enough where they don't have to give up 2 of Russell, Bryant, Soler, Castro to get Harper.

I could definitely see the headliner being Russell or Bryant and then followed with a combination of Alcantara, Almora, CJ Edwards, Schwarber maybe one of the young high potential guys that they signed from IFA last year.

I'm not great with twitter but this guy claims to have a source in the Cubs front office that says they are in discussions with the Nats for Harper..
