I don't pay specific attention to the SEC all that often but man is that West division like 10 times better than the East.

Kind of like the B10 except our good division = your crappy one.

Yeah, the East is really pitiful. There's a bit of an outside shot at possible respectability if Georgia finds some good players outside of Gurley and a couple others and if Tennessee can find some guys to play well on the lines, but neither of those are terribly likely.

It's pretty likely that only 3 of 6 East teams will be .500 or better (SC/UGA/Missouri)

Beliema has shown his ass plenty in the last year, but I have no idea where you are seeing that he is "puffing himself up". He is a very well paid coach in the best football conference in the country. If he gets us back to respectability next year and bowling the next, he has every right to do so then.

He's "puffing himself up" by trying to justify his demotion from Wisconsin to Arkansas (yes, that's a downgrade) by comparing conferences. It's typical meatballery

This is a discussion that will never go anywhere, but I'll bite. How is Wisconsin to Arkansas a downgrade? I would consider the programs to be of equal stature in their respective conferences and nationally, and there's not even a question about stepping up to a bigger, richer, better conference. The Hogs have sucked the last 2 years, but in the last 10 years they have twice been 1 late season loss away from playing for a National Title.

Ark/Wisconsin:

Conference titles-13/14

National titles-1/0

Wins-682/653

All Americans-23/22

Yeah, it feels like at best a lateral move, though it's easier to win at Wiscy now, thus making it easier to get/maintain a national profile as a coach.

Last 25 years:

Arkansas: 164-132-2, 0 conference titles, 4-9 bowl record

Wisconsin: 195-102-4, 6 conference titles, 10-9 bowl record

Either way, his departure from the Big 10 to the SEC was a stinky pile of sour grapes, and he's run his fat mouth ever since taking the job. I hope he never wins again

I'm excited. Auburn should be strong again, but there are a few concerns.

The running game could be best in the SEC again this year with Nick Marshall running the zone read. However, Tre was more of an all purpose back last year, and Cory Grant has world class speed but not the same ability to break tackles. Cameron Artis-Payne is a bruiser but he doesn't have the same agility/speed. I'm interested to see how RS FR Peyton Barber and 5 star true FR Roc Thomas contribute.

Greg Robinson was a beast at LT. Shon Coleman was a 5 star recruit delayed by a battle with cancer and now is coming into his own. He's expected to start at LT. How big of a drop off will we see? Everyone else returns on the OL.

FB Jay Prosch did an incredible job blocking last year. There is no FB/H Back with the same skill set this year so that position will be used differently.

Will nick Marshall improve his completion%? 5 star top juco recruit Duke Williams and Sammie Coates make a formidable duo at WR.

Losing Dee Ford at WDE is big. He was extremely explosive and regularly hurried the qb. Carl Lawson was going to fill that role this year but was injured in the spring and not sure if/when he will return this fall.

AU has arguably the toughest schedule in the nation this year, so they likely will lose at least a couple. They should be a fun team to watch again this year though

I'm really looking forward to having both Auburn and Alabama at home this year.

When Alabama comes to Oxford, if you go by chalk, then Ole Miss will be 4-0 and Bama will be 3-0. If that happens then the Rebels will probably be ranked 12-15ish and Bama will be somewhere in the top 10 or more likely top 5. Most people are anticipating that College Gameday will be in the Grove that weekend. The producers of Gameday have long stated that they want to do a game from Ole Miss but have just never had the right draw for it. It looks as though they'll finally get it this year. The place will be a madhouse.

Some people are dissing on Alabama because they have a guy starting for the first time at QB, Jacob Coker. I just don't see it being that huge of a detriment. Alabama QB's the last decade have all legitimately been just game managers are they still win 11 games a year. Don't see it being any different with Coker, who is actually more mobile than any of the last few cement-footed Bama QB's.

It's partly the loss of McCarron, but mostly the losses on defense. We just count on Saban to reload every season, but they lost a ton on defense. And while I don't think McCarron will do much in the pros, I do think he was seriously underrated as a college QB.

That, and you guys are loaded this year. Just please beat LSU.

We always play well in Red Stick. I'm sure the Tigers defense will be tough as usual but they lost a ton on offense losing Mett, Hill, Landry, Beckham, and others. I think we should be able to outscore them.

Love their LBs. Maybe the best trio in the nation. Their back 4 should be better with experience and fresh blood. Offense should be scary if Marshall improved at all.

AU's linebacker play was weak in 2012 and for much of 2013, but Kris Frost and Cassanova McKinzy started to mature towards the end of last year. Frost is a future 1st round pick and McKinzy will play in the league as well.

Jimbo Fisher is spouting the usual nonsense about how conferences that don't play a league title game (i.e. the Big 12) are dodging an "opportunity to lose, get injured". The irony that only 2 ACC (and SEC) schools play 9 league games while all 10 Big 12 teams play 9 is apparently lost on him.

I think pitiful is pretty strong for the sec east who ended last year with two teams in the top 5. And going by rivals turned in recruiting rankings of 5, 7, 8, 16, 17, 34, 49.

Florida can vomit all over themselves and still have huge talent hauls every year. They had an injury filled lightening struck them kind of year last year and I expect them to be strong once again. When the shitty teams in your division include Florida and Tennessee (who knocked off USC last year) I don't think you can call it pitiful.

It's arguable the second best major conference division in the FBS. Things can chane quickly for a school like Florida that has tons of talent in place just like it did for Auburn. There are 2 or 3 teams out of 7 that could potentially get into the playoff this year so no it's not pitiful.

The teams that play in the conference championship play 9.

Yes, and I should've included B1G in that too, although as everyone knows they're moving to 9 in a couple of years.

I was one of the few people who didn't mind the BCS. It was predictable and usually got the championship game right. The playoff will be nuts. Pretty much the top 2 teams are usually sorted out (at least the two "deserving" teams based on a combo of preseason rankings, slaughtering an overrated team early and win-loss record) but there is pretty much always about 8 teams who could be 3 and 4.

I think it's going to be fun to see what happens. The ap and BCS evolves all year and you pretty much know what's going to happen. He playoff people (ie people generally associated with one of ten universities) is both rife with conflict of interest and their opinions are totally unknown as the season unfolds.

This is also by far South Carolina's best chance for a good postseason matchup be it playoff for bowl.

I didn't see Sparty in that mess:)

Very excited. My Huskers had some fun moments like the Hail Mary last year, but it was mostly a dumpster fire. This should be an extremely athletic blackshirt defense with enough offensive firepower with Abdullah and Bell to contend for the conference. Then again, the hallmark of Bo's teams have been mental mistakes, penalties and turnovers, so it may not matter. Oh well, GBR.
