  1. The posting history is documented proof of the dangers of tackle football. No further comment necessary. Wait so it's q.e.d. that high school football should be abolished? Ok guys I must have cte. You have a forum here full of this weird groupthink. I'm not sure if you are stupid or insecure in that you take an extreme opinion like football should be outlawed, Star Wars is important for adult males or game of thrones integrity matters, easy and apparently incontrovertible. The stronger you hold these thoughts and write them out and read them you reinforce them in some application of dual code theory. And the more you focus on the secret parentage of a game of thrones character or a new trailer for Star Wars and that football needs to be destroyed the more you can armor your psychological resilience and having never satisfied a woman resonates somewhat less.
  2. of course this guy has a dumb opinion about everything. No but you are dumb.
  3. I played football growing up through high school. And all the coaches had us playing meathead style. Drills basically designed to cause head injuries. Even though you had some big disparity in maturity and strength levels the reality is, looking back, I probably did not have a single concussion or head injury accumulation. Mainly because the at 100lbs-140lbs in pop warner football you aren't big or strong enough to do real damage to each other. I still think high school football is really safe when it comes to head injury risk. The greater risk was always a psycho coach running a kid to death. Is high school football more dangerous than wrestling where kids are cutting weight into renal or kidney failure. Or track and cross country events where kids with knowledge of proper hydration are over exerting. I feel like the hysteria around football (which is reasonable when you are talking about college and pro football) is not reasonable at low levels. The extreme likelihood is that a kid can play pee wee and high school football with very minimal almost non existent risk of head injury.
  4. I like every player on the Warriors except Draymond and that's enough for me to hate that team.
  5. The supporting cast nonsense should have been put to bed when LBJ took a starting lineup of himself, Ilgauskas, Drew Gooden, Boobie Gibson, and Sasha Pavlovic to the NBA Finals. It really should've been put to bed when he went 2-3 in the FInals with support from Timofey Mozgov, Tristan Thompson, Dellavedova, and Iman Shumpert. And then he and Kyrie Irving beat the best team in NBA history last year. But, oooh that jerk didn't want to play with Jamario Moon as his #2. I think Lebron did most with the least but that doesn't mean he's better than mj. He also had great teams lose in the finals to pretty average teams in the scope of NBA champs and then obviously beat one of the best ever teams. Jordan had a consistency of dominance. Was the Jason Kidd nets the worst supporting cast in finals history?
  6. Lebron would have to sustain this run for a while and win some more titles to go down as better than Jordan. jordan won 6 final mvps and took two years off in the middle.
  7. Good draw for Liverpool.
  8. Yea but if you are playing the what if game either Italy or Spain should have been sitting in the semi ready to thrash the U.S.
  9. First thing I thought of watching Butler shut Thomas down was when the Heat pulled the reverse with LeBron on Rose. If the Bulls win this series, Butler's crunch-time D is going to be why it happens. Yea. The Bulls chances in this series are based on rondo, grant and mcw minimizing the damage from IT and then hoping Butler can defend him in crunch time. I'm not expecting Portis to play like that again but I'm also not expecting Niko to be that terrible. Where did Bradley go in the second half. He was creating problems for the bulls then he disappeared.
  10. Counterpoint: The first round is a waste of time and should be eliminated. Don't think that's a valid counterpoint. 3 road underdogs won. Wouldn't be surprised if 2 underdogs win the series. At least 4 of the games were good games.
  11. How do you get to a place in your life where you're watching a sporting event with the hope that you see somebody break a rule so you can snitch via telephone? Probably the same people that comment on youtube videos. Especially because they call in the most innocuous things like a ball accidentally moving 1/4 of a revolution or Tiger dropping a foot or so from where he technically should've in the fairway. It's not like they are calling in catching Judge Smails kicking his ball 20 feet forward from out of the woods to the fairway. Another argument against this is that tiger might hit 275 shots on national TV in a tournament. This level of scrutiny can't be evenly applied. They need to add intent to the scorecard signing rule. They backed it down from DQ to 2 strokes. It should be nothing. Clearly that rule is designed to stop a golfer from cheating on his scorecard in the year 1895. As for what if the LPGA thing happened in the men's game, I don't think anything is worse than the Dustin Johnson thing. Disrupting his round to tell him he might have been penalized but that they weren't sure, giving a rules guy an interview during the live broadcast, Etc.
  12. Video assistant. I have the same opinion on this for soccer as for other sports. I hate it. I think it's primarily a way for them to get commercials into the continuous half. Bad calls are part of the excitement and energy of the games. The replays have really negatively impacted the nfl broadcasts. And the frustration of bad calls with the benefit of replay has been way worse than the frustration of bad calls pre replay era. Soccer has a continuous play fluidity and we enjoy the Instant elation when goals are scored. I don't want any of that to change. Bad calls will always happen. The reality of this is it's getting more commercials and interruptions into play.
  13. I actually couldn't get through the entire question it was so awkward. The World Cup one. The guy even doubled down on it. I understand we don't have a soccer culture here but that's absurd level of ignorance.
  14. Anybody catch the pants that Bruce arena was rocking? Looked like cycling tights maybe?
  15. The goal was bad luck even if that back line is horrible. Please get zusi out of this game arena.
  16. This half looked so bad. Pulisic wow.
  17. What about Dax?
  18. The defense isn't great but that's because they've lost an entire back line's worth of depth. Swapping Jones for Lletget doesn't seem like a huge difference in the attack from the team that scored at will on Honduras. I just think that even with the injuries they have better options than Zusi and Ream. Is Cameron hurt too then? Don't really care about Jones playing. Wish they had somebody better than jones tho. Actually isn't sasha kleston a better player at this point?
  19. The USMNT is starting a terrible lineup tonight. They will probably lose.
  20. Argentina should be fine. They have at Uruguay, home to Peru, home to Venezuela, at Ecuador. Win the two home games against 8th and 10th gives them 28 points. Ecuador is at Brazil, home to Peru, at Chile and home to Argentina. So they'd have to beat Peru, Argentina and one of Brazil/Chile to get to 29. Paraguay has at Brazil, at Chile, home to Uruguay, at Columbia, home to Venezuela. They're only on 18 so they'd need 4 wins. Netherlands needs to hold serve at home against Sweden and Bulgaria. Do that and they should be fine but they don't have much margin for error. I think conmebol is a two game agreggate for who gets in for 5th and 6th place after qualifying games. So if you describe happens then they would probably still need to maybe get a result at 10,000ft in Ecuador (after getting rolled at altitude v Bolivia). Obviously they should pass chile, Uruguay or Columbia but it doesn't look like they will based on their form. So this is not a dream scenario.
  21. Argentina struggling mightily in qualification. They will get in surely but still they sit 5th with Ecuador with 4 games and it all to play for. Also will have to do it without messi (not that they really need him with aguero Higuain and dybala available. The Dutch are really in trouble.
  22. He's 5 years younger than Mane. Mane couldn't get a game at Metz when he was Pulisic's age. CP is playing at a club on par with Liverpool. Mane doesn't move the needle in American merch sales. Pulisic is so valuable from a marketing perspective that I think there's only a handful of clubs in the world that he could realistically leave Dortmund for. Not sure how revenue from merchandise is handled in the EPL. But assuming the club owns that, what kind of bump does Pulisic give an English club here in the states? you can look at all the transfer fees and anybody in the 40-50mil range is generally an enourmous star talent. Pulisic is in this conversation only because he happens to be American. There are lots of other really young talented players (Dortmund has a few) that don't command huge transfer fees.
  23. 40? 50? Tough to tell because the potential revenue generation for the first American megastar is still the great, soccer marketing unknown. [tweet] [/tweet] I think Liverpool would make a run at him. But they paid around that for Sadio Mane. Hard for me to believe that pulisic could command a similar fee as mane. I hope he does go to the EPL so we can see him play more often and in that context.
  24. Can't believe Schweinsteiger is playing for the fire.
  25. Also got lucky Sevilla couldn't convert a penalty. i wonder if a team this bad has ever gotten this far.
