If they'd take CJ instead of Hendricks the go for it. I don't mind trading Hendricks in a Hamels deal because I don't think he can sustain last year's numbers based on some of his peripherals. I am not convinced Vogelbach is an every day ML'er. To me the major dice-roll in the deal I proposed is Baez. Edited by RynoRules

Come in, it's Lord Strikeout, Tons of Fun and Inevitable Reliever. If the Phillies could be tricked in to that there should be wine and orgies.

That's an awesome analysis. Petition to word filter Baez to Lord Strike out and Volbebach to Tons of Fun.

Great! My willingness to trade him is based out of concern, not actively hoping he fails, so it's not like a player on my favorite team turning out to be good would be a bad thing.

It might ruin our draft position and cost us the next Kris Bryant.

Cafardo mentioned us with Hamels today, along with the Red Sox, Dodgers, and others. I'd usually just assume lazy reporting, but Cafardo is pretty good and seems to know as much or more going on with us as our own beat guys. So who knows?

I'd be really disappointed if the Dodgers get him over us, we can easily beat whatever they offer. Especially because it's highly unlikely Pederson would get traded after moving Kemp. The only thing I could see them doing is offering to take his whole salary and maybe we'd want them to pay some.

I sincerely doubt we're interested after adding Lester.

But it never hurts to hint we might have interest. It can only drive up the price for our rivals.

Yeah, I don't think Theo & Co. were very enthusiastic about the prospect of giving up the talent it will take to get him before they signed Lester, now I think there's a near zero chance the'll make a serious run at him.

I don't actually want Hamels. I would have been willing to listen if no Lester, but with Lester, I don't see the need to give up prospects for Hamels. At this point, I'm probably not trading any of the top prospects unless the Cubs are getting a big time stud ala Harper, Upton, or similar.

I still want him because I am scared to death of Arrieta and don't like anybody else in the rotation all that much.

Why don't we just offer to take Lee back too? Use some of that money we didn't use the past few years and speed up this process even more.

I'd rather just wait until 2016 and get David Price without giving up any prospects or taking any bad contracts/
