It's strange to me that people can be passionate enough to post a scathing public comment, yet lack even a basic understanding of how trades work.

I really don't understand the desire to search for these sort of stupid statements by fans.

They're funny and easily found with minimal effort.

For example, these can viewed with but a single click of your mouse:

The amount of meatballs sprouting stubby boners over the rumored Soriano trade is ridiculous. They're seemingly convinced that he's still owed a bajillion dollars and as soon as he's gone they'll be able to spend.

Soriano is easily the biggest casual fan blind spot in the Cubs org. Last year at Cubs Convention you'd think that Soriano had pledged to burn Wrigley to the ground by the reaction to even a mention of his name.

I've been so removed from general Cubs fandom for almost a couple years now; I guess I just had assumed that after had had the nice rebound last year and the hot streaks he had this year (plus the end of his contract in sight) that even the meaty ones had come to tolerate him.

Oh Facebook....one of my friend's status:

Trading Garza and Soriano....no wonder the Cubs Suck....still

My response, "yeah, because they were so good with them". He says, "yeah they weren't good, but why trade 2 of the best players on the team". And some other dude says, "They traded Garza for 3 'prospects'. WTF! Does every year have to be a rebuilding year." So, I blocked him. (not really) but I'm not responding and that'll show him!

Every time I try to talk baseball with friends I realize that I'm completely ruined for having a discussion with the average fan. The scenario is usually remedied with copious amounts of alcohol.

Soriano brings out a lot latent racism and stereotypes about latin players among a lot of fanbases, although obviously the Cub fans are at the forefront given the exposure and that he's on their team. I bring up with friends of other fanbases all the time that Soriano is a servicable player who has value, and I get a lot of "lazy" and "show-off" and "not a team player". Texas fans in particular seem to hold it against him that he was hesitant to move positions for them, but they had absolutely no problems when Mike Young and now Ian Kinsler show reticence about switching positions. In fact, many thought the Rangers organization was in the wrong and had insulted Mike Young when they signed Beltre.

You gotta utilize the feature of blocking someones feed but not them as a person profile. It's gold.

Ramirez is an injury risk and not the key to this deal. I'd take the upside on a couple of those names. Its kind of the equivalent of taking 2 top 30 types in the lower levels or one top 15 type higher up but with red flags.

Payano please.

6 walks per nine? No thanks.

Payano is a lefty that can hit 97. He's a guy that has 2 plus pitches, if he learns to command them. Which he had at one point, before adding velo. [expletive] the stats, I'd take him over Ramirez, without the other player, if I had to do it that way. Archer is a righty, but he struggled before breaking out, its what I see with Payano.
