I know most prospects bust and I know this doesn't matter, but it's hard not to be excited when you look at how many highly regraded young players we have added in two or three seasons.

one and a half. two calendar years if you want to include the old regime drafting baez and vogelbach (and dunston).

While its nice to have the Almora's and Bryant's, I like what the organization has done targeting guys like Leal and Pineyro, young guys with good stuff. Even Grimm, Wood and Arrietta - talented SPs when their value is down.

Yup, I was including Baez. And, dang, you're right, that's only two calender years.

The minor league pitching went from poor to slightly below average very quickly. Only a couple breakouts away from intriguing.

Has there been confirmation anywhere else that the Cubs get two PTBNLs?

The Cubs twitter account isn't official enough?

Jon Daniels says there could be as many as two PTBNL depending on which player(s) #Cubs decide they want.

Texas Rangers ‏@Rangers 50s

A few people have asked - 1 or 2 players to be named later. The Cubs will have an option between choosing TEX Player A or TEX Players B & C.

I'm really thinking/hoping the Odor rumor is true. Remember this tweet (Rangers reporter) from during the madness:

Evan Grant ‏@Evan_P_Grant 2h

I've heard 2 version of Cubs-Rangers deal: One with Olt, Edwards and Rougned Odor. Another with Neil Ramirez substituted for Odor.

Kind of starts to make sense if Ramirez and Odor are the PTBNL and he didn't know at the time.

It sounds like they only get a second guy based on who they pick from the first list. So, there might not be a second player at all.

Odor would make our sexy infield logjam even sexier and logjammier.

I don't know why I went to the Cubs facebook page on the comments from the announcement. It's hilarious just how dumb and clueless these people are, but it boggles my mind and makes me pissed off at the same time on how dumb these people can be all upset that they " got rid of and dumped him for nothing." All the same awesome, smart people who went insane when Theriot and Campana were gone comparing them to Lou Brock.

Those posters would make up the segment of idiots who haven't a clue about Baseball. Things called contracts, rebuilding and getting a five for one return. Dumb chicks and frat boy idiots who watch ESPN and say: "Wow, that dude Garza is great. Why would we trade a great player?"

So, at AAA we have Arrieta, Grimm, and Cabrera, and I have to think Hendricks will be moving up before too much longer as well. That's not too shabby. Also Loux, whom I forgot about. They can wrangle a starter or two and some bullpen help out of that bunch.

Oh, screw it.

I'm really excited to get Mike Olt even if it is stupid to feel that way.

yes, me too

Me also. I started to re-warm to him after reading the Manny Ramirez piece. As it stands now, he's had a really great last week or so, and it will be exciting to watch him in AAA and just clasp hands and hope for the best while watching him. I certainly would like to see him end up being our 3B of the future. He's got the outstanding defense already, and the upside is not all completely gone yet.
