I'm more excited for the PTBNL, if these Ramirez/Sardinas/Odor rumors are true. They smell bogus though.

Could they be tied to the health of Justin Grimm? Forearm strains seem to lead to TJS somehow.

Here's Olt's defense from a few weeks ago:

Guessing from the double images, and general blur, this is pre lasik...

Maybe Grimm was the original medical we had issue with, and the PTBNL was the concession to make it go through?

Did Olt has LASIK for floaters or to correct an actual vision problem? I don't know what it's like for floaters, but as someone who's had LASIK for being far-sighted, it takes a long time to fully adjust after the procedure.

Is this a better return than what the Brewers got for Greinke last year?

Segura has been pretty damn good.

Chicago Cubs ‏@Cubs 19s

#Cubs today acquired INF Mike Olt, RHP Justin Grimm, RHP C.J. Edwards and two players to be named from the Texas Rangers for RHP Matt Garza.

2 PTBNL?

Tough to know long-term, but considering they got Jean Segura who has put up a 3.6 bWAR and 3.3 fWAR so far as a SS (.325/.361/.481/.841 line) I'd say no, at this point in time.

Segura is arguably the best SS in all of baseball at the moment.

Even without the PTBNL, I think it's pretty comparable. I didn't think Segura was that special but he's probably better than Olt is going to be. I like Edwards better than Ariel Pena and Grimm and Hellweg are similar I guess with the edge going to Grimm due to being more ML ready than Hellweg at this time last year.

he had floaters and apparently couldn't produce tears. but he takes eye drops for it now.

Wow, 2 PTBNL's? Maybe a carryover? I think they still owed us one from the Soto/Brigham to Loux deal last year....

Grimm and Olt to Iowa per Levine. Edwards to Daytona.

Front office is doing a *really* nice job of accumulating interesting MLB arms (in the sense that they can be at least replacement level) for next year. Makes things look a lot less dire and seems to indicate they want to give themselves a chance in 2014.

My thoughts exactly. I think Theo got a great return for Garza. Hopefully they sign him to an extension and it gets even better.

Segura has definitely been awesome this year, but at the time of the trade, I think he was a top 30-40 prospect (I don't remember exactly; not top 10 or anything). Plus the two pitchers they got kinda suck

Sure would be swell if the Rangers win the WS, Cubs got a nice prospect back, and then the Cubs sign Garza in the offseason.

So the PTBNL is related to how well TEX does this season and not on whether they can sign Garza?

Go Rangers!

Am I the only one sort of discouraged by the 2 PTBNL news? It makes it seem like it's going to make the PTBNL be more likely to be junk than a quality prospect. Two quality guys, (or a quality guy and a throw in) in addition to what we already have gotten, would almost seem too good to be true.

Is there any question that this is an equal or better return than what we traded for 2 1/2 years of Garza?

I'm thinking one set of pools might be in relation to Grimm's health and the other in some way tied to Rangers success and/or Garza's health.
