You forgot the one that Manning won in 98.

They won the year after Manning left. Tee Martin was the quarterback that year.

Yeah, they beat FSU with their third string QB.

Here are a couple different attempts at ranking programs all-time. One averages out AP polls while the other one uses a variety of things in its formula. Oklahoma was #1 in both while Tennessee was 9th and 12th. I also saw a couple subjective rankings while I was taking a quick look. One had Oklahoma #1 and the other one had them #5, while Tennessee was in the back end of the top 10 each time.

In my mind I would think Oklahoma is a more prestigious program than Tennessee. I don't think it is a huge difference. Before Stoops, Oklahoma sure had some down years.

Thanks. From those, it appears I'm underrating OU. I had UT pegged around the bottom of the top 10, but OU further down the list than #1.

dear lord please let tennessee hire kent state's coach or whatever soon so we don't have to listen to dew's rationale as to why bill belichick or whoever probably wants the job.

I hadn't even started the argument that Belichick would come here. I figured that was just assumed as fact.

I think I'd prefer getting Cowher out of retirement, though. Word is he's pay UT to coach there.

I would not have thought Oklahoma would be number one either, at all.

Who goes to the Pac-12 title game if Stanford loses and Oregon State wins?

The lowest-ranked team in the BCS is eliminated from the three-way tie, then it reverts to head to head, so it probably wouldn't be final until the BCS was released. Most likely it would be Oregon State since Stanford would probably fall behind the Beavers in the BCS.

ETA: Or I'm stupid and Stanford beat both of the Oregons.

Stanford because they beat both Oregon and Oregon State.

It's always fun to me to watch the 4th at-large spot unfold. Stanford with their upset last week has a pretty good grip on the 3rd spot (unless UCLA wins the conference championship game, in which case it would be UCLA and Oregon). Oklahoma or Clemson would have the 4th spot if either win, but what happens if they both lose? Texas is likely out after their loss this week (although possibly not with an upset of Kansas State next week). Michigan is out. Rutgers and Louisville both lost. So does Oklahoma State climb all the way to 14? Does Clemson or Oklahoma stay in the top 14? Do Boise State or Kent State have any chance of getting up to 16 and getting the minor conference automatic bid? Does Nebraska stay in the top 14 if Wisconsin upsets them? There are still quite a few scenarios left for how late it is in the season.

Oklahoma St. would get it, I think.

Unless OU loses the next two games and Clemson gets pounded today, I don't think any team other than those two gets the final spot. We've already had losses by No. 16 Texas, No. 18 Rutgers, No. 19 Michigan and No. 20 Louisville. I think Nebraska stays behind Clemson if they lose to Wisconsin and certainly falls behind Oklahoma State (in the OSU beats OU scenario).

The only question mark, to me, is Boise State and Kent State. We'll know more when the rankings come out tomorrow and we see how much those teams jump with the losses by the teams in front of them.

Depending on what happens with the Pac-12, we could end up with a scenario where they have to go outside of the top-14 to get the last team.

Beckman is finishing the season strong. I don't care if he recruited these guys or not, he should have them playing better than this and deserves to be fired.

Yeah that makes sense. Give the guy that was like the 5th choice last year 11 months and then can him. I'm sure you'll have a great list to choose from after that.

It makes more sense than keeping an awful coach out of fear that the next one might be worse.
