I am still thoroughly amazed Diaco even has a job.

You bring this up frequently. I don't get it. He seems like a pretty common football junkie to me. Certainly not a Rhodes scholar but guy can coach some football.

Tim DeRuyter from Fresno St apparently on campus at Purdue for an interview... I saw he was at A&M for a couple years before Fresno St, Old Style do you know anything about him?

Very good DC at A&M under Sherman without a ton of talent. Did an amazing job turning Von Miller from a good player to a great one. Coached us in our bowl win over Northwestern last year after Sherman was canned. Hated to see him go, but I'm happy he's had a good year at Fresno State.

I'm baffled by Mizzou moving to the SEC. Why would anyone commit to a school that might get to finish 3rd in its division once? Were they that worried about the big 12 going under?

A lot of people laughed at A&M moving into the SEC West, too. Seems to be working out OK for us so far.

Gus Malzahn interviewed with AU on Sunday and Kirby Smart is interviewing today. Petrino remains a possibility.

I will be ticked if UT ends up with Jimbo Fisher and Arkansas with Chris Peterson.

Mike Gundy rumors are starting to heat up a bit around here. Apparently there are power struggles out there, but he's an alumni of OK St and T-Boone Pickens has endless money. I doubt Gundy goes anywhere.

If I had to guess, based on rumors and media reports, I'd put the chances of UT hiring Strong at about 60%, Jimbo at about 30%, Mike Gundy at about 5%, and everybody else below that.

How about Gruden?

I think Strong will end up in at UT, he's been laying the groundwork for his departure and as already mentioned everything went well.

It'll be interesting with Butch Jones and see what Purdue offered and what Cincy will try and match with Colorado's offer of 5yr at 13.5 mil.

TCU's Patterson likely isn't going anywhere.

Sonny Dykes has not rec'd an offer yet from as Hazell from Kent St. is interviewing there today.

So are you suggesting it was a good move for Mizzou? I guess I don't know what point you're trying to make.

I meant any job, not necessarily a football job. I used to hang out with him back in the day, and he was dumber than a bag of hammers.

I'm saying it CAN be a good move for them if they play their cards right. Even before this season our recruiting had already started on a nice upswing just by moving to the SEC. It's really starting to go through the roof now with the success we had in year 1. But I can't fault them for jumping off that disease infested sinking ship of a conference when they had a chance.

Who carries hammers in a bag? That is dumb.

But you have the weird bitter little brother syndrome which colors your opinion. I don't know that Mizzou is going to see some wild recruiting uptick when their bowl prospects appear to have taken a hit. Obviously with the caveat that it's just 1 year and whatever.

That's correct. Mizzou's reasons for leaving, in no particular order:

- Security after seeing 3 teams leave and multiple rounds of "will the Big 12 survive" rumors

- More money every year, probably significantly more once the SEC Network stuff comes to fruition

- Fed up with not having much of a say for years while UT/OU/aTm/NU drove decisionmaking

- A step up in football, even if only in reputation

There's probably a couple more I'm missing, but those are the main reasons. I'd also advise against using 2012 as a barometer of Mizzou's ability to compete in the SEC(Their preseason top SIX offensive lineman started about 30 of a potential 60 starts, and they were forced to use a RS FR QB for half the season as well), but I can't control that and don't really care to belabor that point.

I'm not sure what's weird and bitter about not wanting to be controlled by our big brothers in Austin. They controlled everything about that conference and still do. In fact, A&M would not be in the Cotton Bowl had OU gone to the BCS and Texas ended up in Jerryworld. They worked hard behind the scenes to make sure they would not have to play us in the CB and from what I can gather it would have worked.

Being out from underneath their thumb is a glorious thing. We can now offer recruits something they cannot. Sure Misssouri's scenario is not exactly the same as ours but they should be able to use the lure of the SEC to draw better talent. We were doing so before we had on the field success this season.

There is only one school that has a say in that conference.

What you meant to say was you hung out with Bob Diaco.

That's not why I was laughing at A&M

No one really gives a [expletive] about you so it doesn't matter why you were laughing.

By contrast, Diaco is well known for wooing recruits by dropping your name.

Yeah, I think Jimbo is Hart's first choice, but I don't think he ultimately leaves FSU. From the sound of it, Strong has really impressed Hart though.

The wildcard here is Butch Davis. Apparently he's expressed interest, but I can't imagine with UT already on probation from the Lane era that we'd hire a guy with Davis' baggage.

Colorado media blowing up saying Jones to Colorado.

That's be a good hire for them.

Yeah, considering the state of their program. I guess a lot of Purdue fans are high on him and we've offered him our job. I'd rather he go to Colorado.
