Chris Petersen has been the leading candidate for about 20 different head coaching jobs over the past few years.

Somebody needs to back up the truck.

Illinois should do it.

Barry Alvarez will coach Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl.

Early names mentioned for new head coach:

Chris Peterson

Al Golden

Joe Rudolph

Paul Chryst apparently is not leaving his current post.

Wisconsin fans will have to cross their fingers because Boston motherfucking College has its sights set on Golden.

Um, BC hired Steve Addazio 2 days ago.

Yeah, for some reason when I typed in "Al Golden" into Google it returned what I see now is a two-day old article saying they were going after him or Diaco. My bad.

If I was UW, I would offer the position to Bevell.

Gundy turned us down. Louisville is trying to get an extension worked out to keep Strong.

Hard to win many bidding wars against T Boone Pickens?

And Papa John's - Louisville is apparently putting together a really hefty extension to keep Strong.

I doubted Gundy was a realistic option from the beginning (largely because of T-Boone)and speculation both here and in Oklahoma is that he used Tennessee and Arkansas interest to show OSU administration how valued he is around the country.

I'm at the point where if Strong turns us down, I'm all for giving the job to either Petrino or Butch Davis and just hoping they don't do something stupid.

I don't see UT going after either of those two with their histories, I hope I'm right as they're the best possible choices right now.

One of Malzahn's disciples will become his offensive coordinator.

Clemson OC, Chad Morris

Arizona State OC, Mike Norvell

Arkansas State OC, Rhett Lashlee.

Given Morris's 6 million dollar buyout, I'd bet it's either Norvell or Lashlee.

I agree Tennessee probably won't pursue them, but they'd be far better options than reaches like Butch Jones or someone similar. I also need to get my obligatory Mike Leach mention in - he won't be considered due to the abuse allegations but he'd be a great hire.

Hue Jackson has apparently expressed interest. That possibility has me intrigued since he won't have draft picks to trade for washed up players.

Is Fedora out?

People around here seem to think that he declined an interview. I'd be pretty surprised by that, so I was wondering what you heard about that.

FWIW, he called a team and manager meeting at 4:00 today.

Maybe Tennessee can go after Dennis Allen after he gets fired. Or Bill Callahan. Or even Art Shell. They already had Lane Kiffin.

Of course, there's always Gruden.

He's announced that he's not interested in Tennessee. Not sure if that means anything or not but the assumption here is that he's out.

Butch Jones and Tommy Tuberville are the hot names right now. I'm really hoping Hart considers somebody else.

People have already brought up Johnny Majors and Bill Battle and a popular idea is to imitate K-St and bring back Fulmer. People have no clue what's going on right now.

Is Butch Jones trying to cash in down there? He's officially turned down Colorado now, but hasn't told Cincy he's coming back. Sounds like he's waiting on the highest bidder.

Speculation around here is that he was abou to take the CU job but pulled his name out because he felt he had a shot at Tennessee, Wisconsin or both. My guess is one of the two expressed interest in him. I'm hoping it's not UT.

Yeah, I'm glad he didn't end up at Purdue.

John Brice of Volquest reporting that Hart has talked to Rich Rodriguez. I know people at Michigan hated him, but I kinda like the idea.

Is that desperation talking?

Yes

Yes

Seems like he could work if we ensured he brought in a good dc and didn't use the 3-3-5. My thinking is he never was given enough time to make the roster fit his offense in Michigan.

Tuberville would be a good target no?

Had they gone for him quickly, I think the fanbase would've gotten behind him, especially since his staff likely would e been SEC-heavy. Now I'm not sure. The fans are getting so restless that I'm afraid they'd see it as settling for an Auburn retread rather than getting a guy with a proven track record.

This is a hire I think the fans need to buy into, which is why I'm now promoting the high risk/high reward guys like Petrino and Davis. Purely from a football perspective I'd be pretty happy with Tuberville, but I'd probably prefer just going back to Fulmer first.
