Colorado media blowing up saying Jones to Colorado.

That's be a good hire for them.

Yeah, considering the state of their program. I guess a lot of Purdue fans are high on him and we've offered him our job. I'd rather he go to Colorado.

Who do you want for Purdue HC job?

From what I've been reading about him the last couple days, DeRuyter.

I like him and also my pick. A lot of people wants Butch Jones around here in West Lafayette from what I've heard. I live a couple mins from campus and went to school there.

My only problem with Purdue athletic is will they pony up the $$$ for coaches/asst coach/recruiting/etc... as they're super stingy about it. They finally did that for Painter when he signed for his new deal a couple years ago.

I think there's a sizeable group of Purdue fans more concerned about being publicly snubbed by Jones than about getting the right guy. I agree we're known for being cheap and that's too bad (but true). Hopefully Daniels is influencing this hire. He's smart enough to know how important a successful football program is. Plus we've got new money coming soon with the new BTN TV deal.

Yeah... I also know a lot of people who don't care who the next coach is as long as he's better than Danny Hope (plus being a good recruiter is big with the people I know). I do know that Daniels is "indirectly" influencing on the hire (doesn't start his job until next month). He was at the Purdue-IU game and was actually at the same tailgating party as I was before he went into the game. Did hear him say the BTN deal will be big for Purdue. He was pretty tight lipped about everything and whenever he said something, it was vague.

Everything vague, lol. Like a true politician! I'm really pumped he'll be our President though.

Apparently there are reports that the Tennessee job is Gundy's if he wants it. Unless he just wants the challenge of the SEC and to get out from OU's shadow, I don't see Gundy leaving his alma mater. Especially considering T-Boone will probably pay whatever is needed to keep him.

I believe either Gus Malzahn or Kirby Smart will become AU's next head coach, and a decision is likely to be made today or tomorrow. I'm hearing that Petrino probably won't get an interview.

I'd be floored if that happens. The job is toxic.

All media accounts I'm reading are that he stays in Cincy (in a dying Big East) or goes to Colorado.

Cincy is an easy winner there. Heck is that a big enough media market for the big x to come calling soon?

Yep, the Bearcats pretty much own the state of Ohio.

That's what I suspect. Plus there really isn't any good football in Kentucky and won't be forever, so you'd get all 8 of the TVs in that state. Someone get Big Jim on the phone.

dew, has Larry Fedora's name come up?

He's been mentioned sporadically through most of the search, but he's picking up a bit of steam. Hart apparently interviewed him today, but I think he's more of a fallback/due diligence type candidate.

Unless everybody's wrong, it seems Gundy and Strong are by far the top candidates at this point.

How long until Tennessee is telling Dan Hawkins that the job is his if he wants it? Not very, right?

Three years ago when we hired Dooley, that's how it was - we were offering to any warm body. Now, however, we've not gone down Hart's list very far (most think we're still at the top of the list).

I think it's a better job than that. They're at the lowest of lows now because of 1.5-2 terrible coaching hires, but they have resources, they're the only power conference school in a large state, their division and conference aren't gauntlets right now, and they have a not-so distant history of being very good. It's not quite Arkansas or Auburn, but it's better than Kentucky, which truly is a toxic job.

Arkansas radio reporting Gundy hired by Arkansas. This is fun.

Not official yet and I probably won't believe it until it is, but that's a great move by Arkansas if true.

There have been rumblings and massive hints in the media that it's a really bad job with questionable financial and AD support (and this is not based on Embree's exit interviews).

The Arkansas Democrat Gazette is currently reporting both that Gundy has been hired and someone besides Gundy has been hired. THE SAME [expletive] NEWSPAPER!

BC finalists are Bob Diaco, Ball State's Pete Lembo and Saints assistant and former interim-interim coach Aaron Kromer, according to Brett McMurphy. So there's a 2/3 chance I'm going to be annoyed with BC at the end of this.

Haha, that's fantastic. That's how the Tennessee search has gone this year - 2 reliable radio people on the same show have had sources saying different things.
