WOOHOOOOO TIME FOR LEONARD HAMILTON OR STAN HEATH OR ANOTHER NON DESCRIPT COACH

Because, unfortunately, there aren't any other quality coaches out there.

This is not a slight of the Illinois program, it's not like Shaka is going to take some other offer next week.

I think he's just HAPPY at VCU for now, he turned down offers last year too. He's in his early 30's and a multi-millionaire that's just been to a Final 4. He's comfortable in his surroundings and is a god in Richmond. He's made a program most people had never heard of before relevant.

I think he's making a huge mistake if he ever plans to leave this was the perfect spot for him. If he's content staying at VCU forever then more power to him. I'm still a fan.

He may really want the Wisconsin job at some point. If he comes to Illinois, it will be hard for him to ever take it. Leaving a major conference program to go to a school in the same conference just isn't done (with one Tubby exception).

Good point, and Bo has what 5 years left in him?

Indiana scared him off obviously.

I'm going to have to live HOW CLOSE to that state?

Apparently too close to turn down a "top 10" job?

I'm sure they will make a good hire. I wonder whoever choice #2 is will insist on the reported 2.5 million/yr. If true, they might regret putting that number out there.

I know Hamilton's not going to be coaching another 15 years, but why would he be a bad choice?

I think he'd be a good choice if he were 10 years younger.

Bout to be a press conference at VCU. Should know soon.

if it's a pc at vcu, then it's over. he's staying.

Yep that's the feeling get too. I can't believe he turned our job down.

This is all on Mike Thomas.

This is ridiculous. What more could he have done? Kidnapped and brainwashed him? Blackmail?

The reported offer was probably too much as it was. If what Shaka was offered wasn't enough to pry him away, nothing within reason was going to be.

Oh wait, it was because MT terrorized and victimized BAM, isn't it? Hell, Sumlin probably didn't take the football job because he had a precognitive vision of MT's upcoming tyranny, amirite?

And this isn't the Illinois football program. If MT sets his sights on a top tier BB coaching candidate, he'll get one.

Because he's not going to be coaching another 15 years? (or even 10). I think the M.O. in Champaign is to build something lasting, not to set up another transition.

damn it, sounds like royce white is going pro.

He is, press conference at 2:30. I know this sounds bad but I hope one of Railey or Sledge transfer as well. We need one of their scholarships to try and replace Royce with. Should still be pretty decent next year though, probably as good as this year.

Yeah, that was a pretty dumb press release they issued.

Leonard Hamilton is [expletive] 65 years old. He might not be alive in 15 years.
