The only reason I could tolerate Groce if it got down that far is because he was a lead assistant at OSU. His resume at Ohio sucks.

 

We have [expletive] tons of cash that we're apparently willing to throw around. There's no reason to dip down to a MAC coach yet.

 

Williams, Grant, Miller, Stevens, Mack. Throw the cash around.

I don't scare off because of the mid major angle. We got Self from a mid major, shaka is at a mid major. But, if it isn't the right guy it isnt the right guy.

 

Look at the success those guys had at mid-majors vs. Groce. (Though Smart was really just last year's tourney run. Take that away and he's really unimpressive.

Mainly because he threw a tantrum during the '09 tournament game Mizzou played against Marquette(and generally seems to have the on-court persona of a 7th grader). He's a fine coach.

He danced on WVU's court in front of their student section after beating them earlier this year. I thought the students were actually going to attack him physically.

Why would he want to leave such a great basketball school in the sport's best conference?

Well this has been an awesome day. Royce White leaving ISU, Shaka turning down Illinois, Smotrycz leaving Michigan (not as great but still good) and people thinking Burke may leave Michigan.

 

The ginger takeover is nigh.

There's been some rumblings that Frank and the AD(who is not the guy that hired him) are not exactly on the best of terms. His name has come up for the South Carolina job of all things, so if he's at all considering another job, I have to think Illinois would be able to get him.

I don't see Grant going to UI and I definitely don't see Mike Thomas hiring a guy from Xavier. Groce would not be able to recruit Chicago, he's too white.

 

That leaves Buzz Williams, Sean Miller, Josh Pastner, Frank Martin (eww), Reggie Theus....

Sean Miller would be better than Shaka. Buzz would be great as well. Theus wouldn't be bad.

 

But you left out Chris Collins, who is awfully "meh", but who I think is a distinct possibility.

IIRC, there are rumblings that Miller has been at odds with the AD and his family wants to return to the midwest. I could be wrong and even if it isn't, it's a fool's hope, really.

yes, all iowa needs is every good player they face to leave and every team they face to not have a good coach. that is a surefire recipe for a second consecutive NIT berth.

Lol, I'm pretty sure I was reading some of that. The moderation over there is a freaking joke, as are about half the posters.

 

Sometimes I'm tempted to jump in over there, but I don't want to get [expletive] on my shoes, so to speak.
