damn it, sounds like royce white is going pro.

in (maybe?) unrelated news, projected '13 UM starter Evan Smotrycz unexpectedly decided to transfer :(

this seems odd.

A scholarship must've opened up somewhere.

Brundidge too?

Smotz, Brundidge and Christian

the latter two weren't very surprising, but our PG depth remains practically nil at the moment

I know Hamilton's not going to be coaching another 15 years, but why would he be a bad choice?

Because he's not going to be coaching another 15 years? (or even 10). I think the M.O. in Champaign is to build something lasting, not to set up another transition.

That's fine, and I don't disagree with that strategy, but I didn't know if Neifi was disparaging Hamilton because he's older or because he's not a big name.

they both say they're returning; it would be lunacy for THJ to declare after the poor season he had

that lineup looks about right

Maybe Hardaway could just send tapes of him vs Illinois to prospective teams.

Indiana scared him off obviously.

I'm going to have to live HOW CLOSE to that state?

Apparently too close to turn down a "top 10" job?

I'm sure they will make a good hire. I wonder whoever choice #2 is will insist on the reported 2.5 million/yr. If true, they might regret putting that number out there.

Yeah, that was a pretty dumb press release they issued.

I disagree. I think it was strategic. They went hard after a minority coach, the BOTs had complained about us not doing that before. Now they can go after whoever they feel works best.

WOOHOOOOO TIME FOR LEONARD HAMILTON OR STAN HEATH OR ANOTHER NON DESCRIPT COACH

Please stop saying stupid things so I don't have to put you on ignore too.

Nothing more pathetic than an Internet cool guy threatening to ignore others. Oh man you win at message boarding.

This hire is about returning the program to prominence. I think the only remaining coaches that can make that happen are Grant, Buzz or Stevens. I think there's no way Stevens comes to Illinois, and I think there's no way that Grant takes less than what we offered Shaka. I haven't read anything about Buzz's interest level, but he's got a very good thing going in Milwaukee. After that I'd look at Groce but he wouldn't excite me too much.

Sun Times said Grant isn't interested.

Wasn't that prior to Smart saying no?

Who's being an internet tough guy? I was just kind of hoping this thread had reached its nadir of crazy Illini ranting, and yet it continues to reach lower.
