Ah yes, Gail Fischer, truly the Bob Woodward of our time.

Yeah, that wouldn't make sense for anyone. He wouldn't even get a chance from the fans because of the Weber/Keady ties. He's got a nice gig at TN with no pressure and an AD with money. If he has success at UT (he's already landed his first 5 star) for a few years he'll be a hot commodity and can pick a better situation.

Martin can go blank himself. He could have played for Illinois and didn't think we were good enough, same to you Chris Collins.

He would be blanking himself if he took the UI job.

Yes, there is literally no upside to the Illinois job. Maybe D.J. Byrd or one of your other dirt balls can go wreak another rival program.

Haha, did you even read what I wrote? I said it would be a bad fit for both sides. It's kind of strange that you're outraged his name came up because he didn't pick UI as an 18 year old kid 20+ years ago.

I'm not outraged, I just don't like him at all as a coach. I read how you said he'd be blanking himself if he took our job, you know the one that's clearly a better job than yours. I'm mad at you guys for the choke job on Sunday tho.

cuonzo martin spurned illinois due to the ridiculous sanctions placed on us by the ncaa. he wanted to go there. as for collins, richard keene, a mcdonald's all-american, took the scholarship after it was offered to both.

don't want martin and he won't want us.

In hopes of luring Smart, Illinois has guaranteed facility renovations, a long-term contract and a salary near the top of the Big Ten. His annual compensation would be comparable to that of Michigan State coach Tom Izzo, who makes more than $3 million per year according to USA Today salary reports.

That's going to be hard to turn down.

What's the hold up then? He's an idiot if he turns this down.

Maybe he doesn't want to work under a tyrant?

Haha, what does this have to do with the Purdue job? Or the fact that Purdue lost a game Sunday?

Man let me rant, Jesus. I'll never forgive you guys for Weber. And I'm mad you had Kansas beat out and blew it. Deal with it.

It may or may not be Shaka but you have the cash and program to get a great coach. You will be fine.

I hope its Shaka, but there are a few guys I'd really like. Not gonna get too worked up unless we strike out.

This is not a slight of the Illinois program, it's not like Shaka is going to take some other offer next week.

I think he's just HAPPY at VCU for now, he turned down offers last year too. He's in his early 30's and a multi-millionaire that's just been to a Final 4. He's comfortable in his surroundings and is a god in Richmond. He's made a program most people had never heard of before relevant.

I think he's making a huge mistake if he ever plans to leave this was the perfect spot for him. If he's content staying at VCU forever then more power to him. I'm still a fan.

He may really want the Wisconsin job at some point. If he comes to Illinois, it will be hard for him to ever take it. Leaving a major conference program to go to a school in the same conference just isn't done (with one Tubby exception).

I know, this sucks. Really wanted him. When are we gonna get to feel good about our program again?
