I know he's not nearly good enough to go to Illinois, and Illinois wouldn't offer the scrub a scholarship... but... where does your guy have Kendall Stephens ranked?

Stephen's dad played at Purdue and was an NBA player. This isn't some sort of great recruiting coup. Someone refresh my memory why Illinois didn't take Lew Jack? Were we full boat on scholly's due to Alexander/Keller or was it just because Lew Jack is a midget?

He was a midget, and they were sitting pretty with Paul/Bertrand/Richardson for the next year's recruiting class (They'd all commit a month later). With those 3 a year behind him, and McCamey a year ahead of him (plus Frazier playing the PG for what would be Jackson's freshman year) it didn't look like he'd ever see the court. it's not on his blog, but he's said in an interview recently that when the new rankings come out, hill will be #2. it has nothing to do with stephens falling or whatever, hill has gone on a pretty nice run may vault him into a 5 star rating.

On the one hand, it would be nice to be able to start negotiating right away.

Not as awesome as NMSU beating them would be.
