You are all being facetious but yeah it would look a lt better if jay were in the locker room. Face it, it's going be a big dumb angle that he and the team will have to answer for alllllll offseason long. It's nt fair at all but that's life, stupid as it is

This is seriously stupid. I am going to go ahead and say medical reports will come back in favor of Cutler not playing. It isn't going to be a big deal after that.

it's entirely possible but the cold logic of nsbb does not dictate the media narrative in Chicago sadly

Smith said Cutler was disappointed he could not continue.

"He was hurt, and he couldn't go," Smith said. "Trainers, doctors and all, they are the ones who really made that decision. As far as Jay, he is like everyone else; he was disappointed he couldn't go out and play to help his team win."

http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/news/story?id=6051468

If Cutler really wanted to go back in, they should have let him. So if we're not blaming Cutler, we should be blaming Lovie for thinking he had a remote chance in hell of winning with Todd Collins or Caleb Hanie.

With Hanie in, the Bears had more than a remote chance. Heck they were driving in Packer territory with a few minutes left to tie the game. Fact is, Hanie gave the Bears a better chance of winning than Jay if he had a busted ACL. In today's NFL, you go by what the doctors say. If he further injured his knee, it could be career threatening. Then there are lawsuits. I don't blame Lovie or Jay if it was the ACL. But I don't know if they would have known that's what it was without an MRI unless there are tests that you can do that give you a pretty good idea what is wrong.

It's weird, I consider myself more a Bears fan than Cubs fan... but this and the Colts Super Bowl loss is more of "meh.. oh well". While '03 was atomic, and the 6 games in '07 and '08 were giant gut punches.

I'm in the same boat except I'm more of a cubs fan than bears fan. I'm not all that upset but I feel like I should be.

Right, because a medical report and Bartman really show lots of similarities. Then we can also tack on the Cubs v. Bears respective histories.

I never said there weren't big games. Of course there were. This one was the biggest. I have yet to find a Chicago media personality who didn't say this was the biggest.

The Stanley Cup finals are more than one game. Same for the NLCS. The White Sox did not win it here and it wasn't do or die in any of those. '85 NFC Championship wasn't as big because everyone knew the Bears were going to the Super Bowl. This one was against your rival. The Bear/Packer matchup was what put this over the edge.

I think you have to limit the choices to bear games since they are by far the most popular team in town which means big games mean a lot to a larger population of people.

If you want to argue 85 was bigger whatever. But the packers being our arch rivals tips the scales for me.

I don't understand the point of continuing to argue over which game is the biggest game.

I think we get it. Someone thinks this game was bigger. Someone else doesn't.

I've never torn an ACL, but isn'y it possible to stand on it after it is torn?

Yes, but there are some things that affect how wise an idea it would be. Usually when you tear an acl there's other trauma to the knee which is going to make a bigger impact on just standing around on it.

Here are the tweets from other NFL players on Cutler's injury. I've never torn an ACL, but isn'y it possible to stand on it after it is torn?

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Cutler-s-NFL-contemporaries-go-after-him-on-Twit?urn=nfl-311321

Corey Patterson stood up and walked off the field after tearing his ACL.

That came immediately to mind.

Not saying it happened to Cutler, but you can stand after tearing it.

I think this twitter crap is just because players just don't like cutler for whatever reason. But it is strange to see because if anyone would know what injuries can and can't be played on it's them.

Folks, pandoras box has been opened. This is definitely going to be a topic of discussion for the very near future. The loss was bad enough but the reaction of the fans is gonna make it worse.

What the fans and media did to Rex during and after 2006 is going to seem quaint after this shitstorm ends.

It almost doesn't matter what the truth is, because the narrative is already out there, and there's plenty of media and portions of the fanbase that don't like Cutler.
