I thought Urlacher was fairly awful in the first half. He whiffed on several tackles and took the wrong gap trying to stop the TD run. He definitely stepped up in the second half, though.

Haha... Did any Bears player played well in the 1st half though? That 1st half was quite brutal to watch as a Bears fan.

an ACL tear is a knee sprain. but it sounds like you know more about this medical mumbo jumbo than i do, so i'll defer to your expert medical analysis.

I meant it like it's not a tear ligament. That's why I said or somewhat minor knee injury. That's what I think of when I hear the word "a sprained knee or knee sprain". Torn ACL/PCL/MCL of any kind (whether it's a small tear or totally torn) is usually a major injury. MCL or PCL isn't as bad as ACL.

It's like you're arguing that "car accident" and "destroyed engine compartment" are mutually exclusive. Knee sprains cause, among other things, ACL tears.

I already said I would shut up about it since what you said there would be correct on the last page. I was thinking that knee sprain wasn't so vague and torn ligaments was a different thing instead of where if they don't know what it is, they call it a knee sprain and after MRI, can be a torn ligaments.

Do I have a question though (someone can help me out here)? Say you got a torn knee ligament... Is it possible to be walking around like Cutler was and not have a noticeable limp? Cuz it seems to me that he didn't limp at all when they show him walking. Just curious... (most people I knew who had torn ACLs either were on crutches or in wheelchairs.. they couldn't put any pressure on that leg)

He definitely had a limp. I think when Javon Walker tore his ACL for us a few years back, he was able to walk off the field under his own power.

Corey Patterson walked off on his own back in 2003. I don't remember a limp from Corey.

And Cutler definitely had a limp. And he had nothing on the one throw he made.

Someone earlier in the thread mentioned Knox giving up on passes. Saw this and thought it illustrated the point nicely, from Pro Football Focus-

No receiver had more INTs thrown in his direction than the 11 thrown on passes aimed at Johnny Knox in 2010 -- now make it 12

I saw him limping around as he was getting out to the huddle in the first series of the second half

Yeah I saw that, but then it seems like when he was on the sideline that the limp was either most or all gone. Thanks for the example guys. So walking around like Cutler was wouldn't hurt his knee any more cuz he's not putting any more pressure on the knee to hurt it?

Best case scenario: Cutler is pissed at everybody else in the league, it brings the team together, and they run roughshod through everyone next year.

Depends if his ligaments were partially or completely torn. If they were partially torn, he could completely tear them, but I think that would just be a longer recovery.

I'm no Bear fan by any means but the way Cutler is being treated here is some pretty big BS. Some idiot fans doing their best to destroy what might be the best thing to happen to the Bears offensively in about 20 years or so.

I can actually see my self becoming somewhat of a fan of Cutler is this is something that lingers over him the rest of his career. Nobody would take themselves out of a game like that unless something was seriously wrong.

Truffle is right. Twitter is proving how idiotic everyone is. If every fan and every analyst and every football player is such a medical expert, why the [expletive] can't I understand half of what they say on Twitter?

Because only twits use twitter.

Asked how the knee felt, Cutler said: "It hurt."

Asked why he played the first series of the third quarter and then left for good, Cutler said: "We gave it a go that first series but couldn't really plant and throw, so they kind of pulled me."

Asked to clarify if he or the Bears' medical staff made that decision, Cutler said: "Yeah, I was going to keep playing. But they made the decision giving Todd [Collins] a shot would be better for the team."

Congratulations to the Bears for a good, hard-fought game. But, remember how I've been saying all year long that the Packers were the better team and it would be proven at the end? Yeah.

Anyway, I have a feeling this won't be the last time the two meet in the playoffs. Both teams are good now, and will probably be good for quite a while.
