Agreed. Coaching in that game was not a strong suit for the Bears.

Or the Packers. McCarthy did the same thing once or twice, which is even stranger than Lovie doing it.

the coaching on both sides was bewildering. it was as if they were trying to out-goof each other to a win. That end around followed by a 20 yrd crossing pattern on 4th down was crap. the no-go on the 49 field goal was crap. Todd Collins is crap, period.

the best part of this whole mess is that every single person that is bad mouthing Cutler, if he would have stayed in and been sacked a bunch because he was immobile and throwing interceptions because he could get nothing on the ball, would have been the same people saying WHY DID THEY LEAVE HIM IN THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!

Of course. That's the essence of the meatball. If only they'd listen to me things would be so much better!!

I didn't get the end around. It seemed like trying to throw a wrinkle in when one wasn't necessary. The offense was moving moderately well (as well as it had all day) and time was a pretty big factor – a slow developing run that has nearly as much chance to be stopped in the backfield as it has of gaining yardage seems odd, at best.

I'm doing my damndest to not go on Twitter or PFT for a few days. People are idiots. Nothing much more to say about that.

As far as next year goes, I'm probably not as optimistic as some seem to be. Mainly because we were almost injury free this past season. I doubt we're anywhere near that lucky again next year. And until I see McCaskey pony up some cash after having a good season, instead of a terrible one, I'm going to assume the Bears bring back this team basically, with the major additions being the draft picks.

I think we're close, I really do. But, we need an impact WR and we're not finding that in the draft where we pick. We need a bigtime LT and it's highly unlikely we find that either, but I'll give it at least a slim possibility. The rest(DT, OG, and CB are all things we CAN find in the draft anyway) can be second tier players that fit our schemes. I just hope Angelo and McCaskey see this and actually intend to do something about it.

Our 3rd down and short playcalling is easily MM's worst feature as a playcaller. Holy mother of god.

I'm really not sure where to find it, but I know stats like this exist. I'm pretty sure we have to be among the league's worst at converting on 3rd and 2 or less.

Seems like Bears and Packers fans both say the same thing about our coaches every time we square off.

They're certainly feeling vindicated right now after last offseason (Angelo, Lovie, etc)

I don't want to pre-judge how that will translate into next year. I presume they still feel like the goal is to win the Super Bowl, and not just do well enough to keep their jobs going.

When it comes right down to it, the difference in the game was a pick 6 from our 3rd string QB to the fattest guy on the field. I know Bears fans are upset, but really, it could've been a whole, whole lot worse with the way that game started.

I'm still miffed that Urlacher got tackled by Rodgers.

Great play by Aaron.

Come on, jump over him or something :) He's the only guy left and you're home free.

That TD would have changed things, in retrospect.

he got him by his shoe strings. Urlacher basically tripped over his own to feet trying to stutter step over Rodgers. I'm not sure that was a great play by him, but I guess it worked.

Urlacher should have just lowered his shoulder and went after Rodgers, with the ball.

Not even in retrospect. The Bears would've won that game if Urlacher takes that the distance. Our offense wasn't the same after the INT and obviously, that's a credit to the Bears defense.

This...I'm not sure why a linebacker is trying to dodge a QB. It was a chance for a free shot at Rodgers too.

At least stiffarm him. Hard to criticize Brian's game though.

Didnt Rodgers go really low to try to trip up Urlacher? I don't think Urlacher would have been able to put his shoulder down and knock down Rodgers

I'd need to see it again, but I thought he was diving to try to get to Urlacher because he was trying to make a cut.

Good to see some outside people writing stuff defending Cutler.

Oh and I hope MJD blows out his knee in the 1st game of the year next year. What a little bitch

If he does, then I fully expect he'll play the entire season with it. He's just that tough, man.

Loved him at UCLA and Jacksonville but it's pretty rich that a guy who sat out the final 2 games of the season with a lesser injury and a playoff berth on the line is criticizing Cutler.

I loved Urlacher making fun of Kerry Rhodes:

"I don’t give a (expletive) about players around the league sitting, watching our game at home,” Urlacher snapped. "What players? Did they put their names on it?"

Kerry Rhodes, someone said.“Who’s he?"

Maurice Jones-Drew was another, Urlacher was told.“Where’s he at now, home? I’m just saying. It’s easy to talk (expletive) about someone when you’re sitting on your couch watching their game,” Urlacher said angrily.

"That’s what I’m saying. I don’t understand it, I don’t get it.“Let them sprain their MCL or do whatever he did to his knee and then get back in the game. See if they can do that. See how well they run the ball, or whoever the other guy is, see how well he does at whatever position he plays. I don’t agree with it. It’s easy to write that stuff on the Internet."

Urlacher houses that, it's a 1 possession game and we're more likely to stick with Collins.

I'm not really shaken up over the game, but at the same time I haven't let myself to travel outside of this forum, RealGM or Sporcle since the game ended. Makes me sick the Packers are in the Super Bowl, and I can't stand seeing people discuss the game. The Chicago Bulls are my saving grace. Because if it weren't for them (and the Hawks) we'd be looking at a long bad summer of mediocre baseball before 2-a-days in July.

lower his shoulder or speared him, either way Urlacher should have just went after him.

ok, I'm f-in bitter.

Yea the MJD stuff surprised me. Ive always thought he was a pretty stand up guy, but the tweets from the NFL players is completely uncalled for. Im hoping the Bears take note of every single player that said [expletive], because to me its unforgivable. Questioning the toughness of one of your fellow NFL players over a social media outlet is BS.

Deion Sanders questioning him is rich too. The guy was the biggest [expletive] when he played and now hes questioning someones toughness. Get the [expletive] out of here

I am way late to this party, but the whole Cutler thing is bewildering. The guy got the s--t pounded out of him for the entire year because our O-Line sucks, and he only came out after his head was slammed into the turf in NJ. But, no, he's not tough...

No kidding - Sanders was well known for his refusal to tackle or support the run defense in any meaningful way.
