Too bad we don't play the Jags next season.

i'm not trying to stir the pot, but how is what MJD said worse than what was said by Asante Samuel, or Dockett, Curry?

Mostly the hypocrisy due to MJD sitting out the final two games with an undisclosed knee injury while Jacksonville needed just one win.

Dan Bernstein (who, while can be a pompous ass, I respect and his opinions rise about meatball status that most voices in the Chicago media possess) posted a blog on the Score's website:

This feels like Scottie Pippen’s 1990 migraine all over again, with no Michael Jordan to ride to the rescue with six championships to make it all right.

I don't give a [expletive] about rah rah. But it would have been nice to see him talking to Hanie on the sidelines like he was trying to help him out there. Maybe he was doing it and we just didn't see it. All I know is we better get a lot better on the OLine next season.

Like when Cutler was sitting next to him on the bench, playbook in hand pointing things out?

I never saw that. Not saying it didn't happen, but when they had a long shot of Hanie staring at Polaroids on the bench, Cutler was right next to staring into space like he had another concussion.

And I remember hearing them say he was questionable to return. If the Bears are releasing that info, then they need to change their procedures for that. That only helps fuel the fire that he is quitting on the team.

Dockett missed a few games this season so he's not really one to talk. Although if you follow him on Twitter, you'd realize that the guy is a complete dumbass.

They always say the return is questionable.

OMC's thought that he should be running around screaming at Hanie is stupid.

And I said that...where?

I took it as an implication.

I didnt think Cutler's demeanor on the sideline was bad in any way.

No they don't.

He can't be too rah rah with a knee injury.

Then maybe he should have stayed in the clubhouse? Of course he'd have been attacked for that since you see players on the sidelines with crutches all the time after they are injured in a game.

Problem is a lot of people don't understand knee injuries and they see Cutler able to stand up and walk around and it makes them go "wth?"

The funny thing is..if he stays in the locker room and isn't seen in the entire 2nd half, the critique becomes: Its the NFC title game, and Cutler can't be out there cheering on his teammates in his absence. Basically the only way Cutler wasn't gonna get ripped following his game was if he had an awesome 100+ QB rating day in a Bears win. Any other scenario and Cutler gets shredded today, and he is. Very unfairly I might add.

I think OMC is right about most people not knowing how an athlete can stand after a severe knee injury (we saw it in this thread too). If only he was writhing in pain, etc. Of course no football player needs to just stand to play; you have to plant, cut, run, etc.

The thing about him not helping the other QBs, not listening in on the coaches, not having a trainer look at him is ridiculous because we saw him do all 3 things on FOX. He even smiled for the first time all game 2 different times the Bears did something good.

Urlacher made public comments about Cutler that were fairly negative in training camp last year IIRC.

I think the comments were more about sticking up for Kyle Orton and saying we didn't need to make a change because everyone believed in Kyle than Brian taking a direct shot at Cutler. Of course, there was obviously an indirect shot at Cutler to even make a public statement like that, but whatever.

FWIW, Hanie was interviewed and said Cutler gave him advice throughout the game, and especially after his first drive. Told him to trust himself and remember to use his legs to get out of trouble.

So, he WAS seriously hurt.

He WAS playing with the injury.

He WAS talking to his backup on the sideline.

So, obviously he is tough. He is a team player. And he's not a quitter. Bring on the next argument.

You shouldn't change your policy on injuries based on how stupid shitheads are going to react.

Really that's in the word filter? Dammit

Yea also Cutler was coming to Chi with the whole Denver fiasco over him, which Im sure gave some of the Bears a preconceived notion of him. Since Cutler has been a Bear, all of his teammates have spoken very highly of him.

I don't understand all the hatred being spewed. Jay Cutler has proven to me over the last 2 years to be one of the toughest QB's in the league. The spinning leap into the endzone. The constant head first dives for extra yards instead of the feet first slide, etc....

When Collins came into the game, I knew that either Cutler was so hurt he couldn't go back in or a coach refused to let him go back in. End of discussion.

With all that said, I hope I never have to see or hear Collins name ever again.

I bet if Cutler would have laid on the field, got carted off, and never appeared on the sidelines people would be complaining that he quit because it was only an MCL injury (not ACL).

We also aren't sure just how many plays Cutler tried to go on that injured knee. Or has it been confirmed which play caused the injury and that he didn't play at all after that?

As much as I love me some Jay Cutler, he has his bad games and whether it was the knee bothering him or the defense giving him fits, or the cold affecting his throwing arm, he was not accurate at all and I'm not so confident he was going to be able to lead us back in that game if something didn't change soon.

I think it's a dumb policy if they are saying he is questionable to return if there is no chance of him playing again. Do they think the opposing team has someone watching the TV broadcast and reporting to the sidelines what the announcers are saying? And even if you believe that, does it somehow give the other team an advantage?

He said he hurt it in the endzone when they had the ball on the drive starting at the 1.5 yard line.

I added to my previous post while you were posting this one. All in all, fun season. I wish we were playing in the Super Bowl in two weeks, but......

I think it just proves that most people and the media do not like Jay Cutler for whatever stupid reason and are looking for any sort of reason to dog him in the media. This morning I am actually noticing a sort of reversing of all the venom being spewed last night. A couple of people who ripped on Cutler on twitter last night are now taking crap for it on their pages. I am hoping the meatheads can settle down and let this die quickly before Cutler becomes even more disillusioned. Probably wouldnt make a difference in his play, but I don't want our star QB to forever hate his own fan base because of a loud minority of idiots.

Which makes me wonder if I can fully blame Cutler for underthrowing that ball to Knox that was intercepted. I am not sure he knew about the severity of the injury and what he could and couldnt do on it. You dont know if you can throw the deep ball until you actually throw one.
