for real? the coaches are the ones that made the decision. are they going to bench the best qb in bears history for not overpowering them and staging a mutiny on the field?

Yeah coaches make the decisions, but are you gonna tell that if it was Big Ben/Farve/Brady/Manning/Brees instead of Cutler that they would've stayed on the sideline and not play when they can walk around or ride the bike??? Heck even Philip Rivers or McNabb or Vick... I bet you not one of them would've sat down that 2nd half unless they were in a wheelchair or stretcher...

you're not going to ruin your franchise for one game, no matter how big the game is.

Really? If Cutler get badly injured, it wouldn't ruin the franchise... They done quite well for not having an elite QB in their entire history (you can debate if Sid Luckman was one or not-it's not the point) so far. Man you never know the next time Bears will get back to the NFC Championship again. Cutler may never ever get back there again. This is the reason why players this game and make MILLIONS... for a chance to get into the Super Bowl. It's why guys like Urlacher played ALL OUT after Cutler went to the bench and Forte trying to carry the offense.

We haven't done "quite well" in the era when a QB actually had to complete passes down field on a consistent basis. Even today we're smoke and mirrors and balls out effort by the defense just to stay in the game.

The Bears basically have to play closer to their A game than any other good to elite team to win against other good teams.

yeah so just run out to the field a completely immobile quarterback who can't plant his front foot when he throws. sounds like you'll really be giving your team a great chance to win by doing that.

Splendid, even if you are right and Cutler could have gutted it out, it is pretty much impossible to get anything on the ball when your knee has no ligaments. This isn't a matter of being tough. Your body just won't let you do certain things with no ligaments. Hanie gave them a better chance of winning and I think Jay knew that. Gutting it out might have hurt Chicago's chances of winning. Jay knew it when he couldn't complete the third down pass. Edited by Wilson A2000

yes, really. cutler has been our entire offense for the last 2 years, even while getting sacked a million times. you better shut up about this or gooney is going to end you. just a warning.

Forte is a god damned superstar though

Impressive effort. Too bad he doesn't have the skill for impact.

not sure if serious

at some point i would've split Forte out wide on all pass plays. he's the only one that can get open with consistency

Very serious. Nice player but no impact.

Still a top 10-15 RB though. The only true impact RBs are Peterson, MJD, Chris Johnson, Ray Rice, Jamal Charles and Arian Foster. Forte is in the group with Turner (much bigger impact in pass game), Mendenhall (see Turner), McFadden, and McCoy. The last 2 could join the impact group if they have another good year.

So I was at a bar with the volume not at as loud as it should've been, would I be way off base to say the refs were terrible?

What did you guys think of those grounding calls and the helmet to helmet by Pep on Rodgers?

The grounding was questionable but didn't wind up hurting them. The helmet to helmet was a valid call.

Valid by the book. I didn't really see how Peppers could've avoided it without taking himself out of the play.

He could have moved his head out of the way so his shoulder hits first. He could have gone lower. It's tough to do, but it was possible.

It wa valid and a legit call. Did Taylor hold?

I love how some people honestly think that playing hurt makes a guy so much more of a team player than admitting you are injured and will be ineffective and giving a healthy teammate a chance. I don't get how the former is more admirable than the latter.

It's like the starting pitcher who is gassed talking the manager into leaving him in the game to face one more batter and giving up a home run. Yay for him, what a warrior.

yeah, it was the right call. i don't think it ended up hurting us all that much anyway.

What? I haven't done anything wrong. Why you giving me a warning and gooney gonna end me?

If Cutler really did have a torn ACL, then fine I can see that. I just hope it's not a knee sprain or somewhat minor knee injury. Does anybody for a fact yet that it was indeed a torn ACL or what? I mean he should've went to the hospital then instead of standing/walking/sitting on the bench with his head down and looking like he's pouting... It just shows him in a negative way for everyone to see.

an ACL tear is a knee sprain. but it sounds like you know more about this medical mumbo jumbo than i do, so i'll defer to your expert medical analysis.

I distinctly remember a play on one of the next series where Raji "hit" Hanie in the helmet with his and it wasn't called. It would've been an incredibly lame call but right by the book.

The idea that these helmet to helmet hits on the QB (or anyone else) are always by the book and never missed just isn't accurate. They frequently let them slide because it's the only way to make the play in the shortest amount of time. Happens all the damn time.

Even if you do think Cutler quit

you are an idiot.

What?

if you think he quit you are an idiot.

Oh, I see. You were finishing my sentence. I was gonna say, I've been pretty clear about defending Cutler in the last 3-4 pages.

I meant it like it's not a tear ligament. That's why I said or somewhat minor knee injury. That's what I think of when I hear the word "a sprained knee or knee sprain". Torn ACL/PCL/MCL of any kind (whether it's a small tear or totally torn) is usually a major injury. MCL or PCL isn't as bad as ACL.

jersey, i don't care what anyone says in this thread, the bears are going to be alright. we were a final four team this year, and the defense has a couple good years left in them. cutler will come back and do his thing next season and everyone will forget about this crap. breathe, my friend.
