After this game, Aaron Rodgers, Ted Thompson, and Mike McCarthy should all take cell phone pics of their junk and send them to Brett Favre with the message "How about these nuts?"

About the playcall:

Say we convert on 3rd and 4th down. Say we even manage somehow to score another TD, are we still winning in overtime (Now that just a field goal doesn't suffice)? Game was still technically in doubt but the game was lost long beforehand.

Yeah, the game was probably lost in the 1st quarter. They were bad.

Most likely. The Bears were playing better ball. Better defense, better offense. And they had the crowd behind them.

I'm obviously disappointed, but I'm still proud of the way this team fought throughout the year.

The effort the D put forward today was just awesome. Hoping we can build on this for next season.

And yes, I too am dreading the Steve Rosemblooms of the world calling for Cutler's ouster.

I'm done with Martz. The Bears didn't want him at first and then had to get him because no one else wanted the job. Yes he was able to make changes in the Dallas game, but reverted back to the old Martz after. The Yahoo! report of this week made it known that it wasn't Martz who became balanced. In the bye week Lovie forced him to. The guy they originally wanted, Bates, is free now.

Peppers did NOTHING!

Peppers was a beast in the first and fourth. Was egregiously held about 4 or 5 times on potential game-changing plays.

I don't want Bates; he's not good. I agree with you on Martz - never liked him.

cutler had an average QB rating, which isn't bad for a fairly young guy with mediocre WRs and a mediocre OL. how are you going to improve on him? it's not like teams are looking to deal elite QBs and the bears have a late first round draft pick.

Not that I want to, but Arizona needs one and they could trade Fitzgerald to the Bears for Cutler.

But you can improve on mediocre WRs and OL in that situation.

I don't want to come off as a whiner of the officiating, because I universally hate fans that complain about officiating in losing games, but there was some damn big momentum shifting calls and they pretty [expletive] bad

I think I'm most upset about the phantom holding on (Chester Taylor?) when we were getting a drive going

There should be no excuse for not mounting any offense before and after that of course

Well this game was weird as hell. Played about as poorly as we could and to keep it this close. Defense played its heart out. Hanie gave us a weird spark at the end.

Ugh.

Cannot wait to hear the endless sports callers calling for Hanie as the starter.

Well, I'm not going to be one of them, but if I was Chicago, I would take a real long hard look on Cutler, and what to do about him from here on forth.

That guy is starting to remind me of Jeff George.

yes, you would. what a joke.

You're saying that you're content with Culter as your QB?

I'm more than content. But then again, I only realize there's 1 Tom Brady and 1 Peyton Manning in the NFL and that Cutler is one of the 10 best QBs in football while surrounded by one of the worst supporting cast (sans Forte) around, including a historically bad offensive line.

And I understand that there is only one Tom Brady and Manning. I wasn't pairing Cutler into those two, but, having seen Cutler play in Denver, when he's good, he is good, but when things aren't going his way, he mentally checks out. His toughness has been called into question before. Honestly, I don't know how serious his knee is, but this is the NFC Championship game, and Cutler was standing around with that knee. Looked fine to me.

Put on a brace and get back on the field. *shrug*

Either way, good season for you guys. At least you guys lasted longer than my Chiefs could.

There are actual sports experts out there tweeting that they think Cutler is done in Chicago after today.

I want to go on a sports expert rampage.

That's dumb, but only because there isn't a better alternative.

But I'd bet there are guys in the locker room wondering about Cutler coming out.

You realize they don't want to trade Fitzgerald? They are desperate for a QB because they don't want him to bounce from Arizona in a year.

Beasts get sacks, especially when you go up against a second stringer for part of the game. Peppers had one hit on Rodgers and it cost 15 yards and a first.

The thing is, he did come back into the game. He was going to be pulled at half time and came in for the first drive and then left. What does that say?

I think Cutler has shown throughout the entire season how tough he is, by standing in there with our offensive line doing him NO favors at all. I'm fairly certain that the sportswriters will accuse him of everything possible in tomorrow's papers, but they're just stupid. There's no doubt in my mind he couldn't go. Jay doesn't have to prove his toughness to anyone, as far as I'm concerned. He's already done it all year. Get him some damn help on offense and see what he's capable of.

If Peppers doesn't win the Defensive MVP, he'll be in the top 3 in voting, all while getting 8 sacks.

Exactly, he played a quarter with a concussion and we're questioning his toughness?

I hope that neither Lovie nor anyone else gets an extension, stays on for another year, we draft some offensive line/buy someone in free agency, get a big receiver, and do nothing for the defense because we have neither the time nor the money or picks to help it, and see what happens next year.

When it's all said and done, they turned what easily could have been a 4 win season into a season that was exciting to the last seconds and almost made the super bowl. Way, way outplayed my expectations.

Fine. But he didn't do much today which is what we are talking about. I don't know why anyone would defend him after his performance today.

Probably pulling himself out of the NFC Championship game when things get a little rough.
