This one comes down to Brett trying to do too much.

Nah, it comes down to that 12th man in the huddle. If not for that, it was an automatic run call for the next play and Longwell probably would have come through.

Bingo

Favre could have tucked it and run, picked up a few yards and gotten them back to where they likely would have been had they not had the penalty. He didn't have to try to force a throw like he did.

Bingo.

what team does Favre play for next year?

Doesn't he have another year on his contract with Minnesota?

Yep, for $13 million. I don't think any is guaranteed.

Brett had a two-year deal with the Jets too.

Ultimately the game, I think, is on Favre because of when he turned the ball over and the circumstances behind it. Regardless of everything that happened before, the Vikings had the ball at the 31 with the game tied at 28 with 15 seconds left.

But the other turnovers were just as big.

Favre/Peterson fumble at the end of the first half at the NO 4.

Favre intercepted with the ball at the NO. 34 on a second down.

Harvin fumbles at the Min 27 and NO recovers and gets the ball at the Min 7. Three plays later, the Saints get a TD.

Berrian catches a ball and likely would have had a 1st and goal (at the very least a 3rd and 1) but fumbles and NO recovers.

The Favre one was big, but those turnovers cost Minnesota at least six points and gave NO seven. That's, at the very least, a 13 point swing. It's even more if you give the Vikings a touchdown on either the first or fourth drives that ended in TO's.

In many ways his season was nothing short of miraculus, even should he return, I don't think it's a given he'll have another such season.

I think he could have about as good of a year. Favre has been very good the last three years. This year might have been the best out of the last three. Now that Rice has turned into a very good receiver and Harvin has a year under his belt, I could see Brett playing at a Pro Bowl level in 2010.

Hey everybody, we're gonna get laid!

this saints fan definitely will tonite.

What a game to witness. We had tears of joy. There were some grown men blubbering like idiots. I wasn't that bad, but definitely alot of emotion.

That game had so many highs and lows.

I'm definitely going to the super bowl, don't care about the cost. Colts will probably beat us but that's ok.

Congrats to OMC.

That was a very exciting game to watch and it was made even better by a #4 pick thrown across his body as he was on the run. A fitting way to end a career.

I took way too much joy out of Favre losing but I don't care, I hate that bastard (in a sports fan way, of course).

If Brees plays as crappy as he did today, the Saints stand no chance to win against the Colts. I'm just hoping for a good game.

And all u folks talking about favre retiring, I just don't see. He'll likely sit out and think about it just so he doesn't have to go to training camp. He is still very effective.

It'll be your basic Favre offseason.

I'm retired.

Well, actually I might not be.

It really depends on your definition of "retired."

Maybe I'll be back, dunno.

Wait, did you say training camp is over? I'll be there tomorrow.

Sincere congrats on the win OMC. I feel better about the Bears beating you in 2006 now because if they had played anyone but the Bears I would have wholeheartedly been cheering for them. I know a lot of teams fans are long suffering (look no further than this board) but it felt like there was always something different about Saints fans. I don't know how to put my finger on it, but the pride in the Saints and what it means for the New Orleans area in general seems different from most other teams. Not to say that other team's fans don't have enormous pride but it just seems different.

Well Favre was supposedly gimpy after that ankle injury...it's possible running wasn't an option. But he could have thrown it away or made a less risky throw. But he did what has gotten Brett Favre to this point in his career. He saw an opening, thought he could wing it in there and misfired. That's the life of a gunslinger.

I can't remember a Super Bowl match up I've been more excited for. This is the game I've wanted all along.

And after the Colts game, I really liked how Manning emphasized "kept our mouths shut" during his interview.

You weren't excited for the Bears-Colts? :( Did you just assume it was going to be a blowout? (please make me feel better about my life and lie to me)

Congrats OMC, you're team deserve it. Please enjoy every moment of the experience, cause I did when the Bears played there a couple of years ago (against the same team in the same host city). Just make sure Ashton Kutcher isn't wearing a freakin' Saints jersey.
