Yeah, I've been reading what they've been saying too and they make the Oriole Hangout guys look good. by comparison. They love them some Grandy, that's for sure. You do have to wonder though, if all the "love" that the fans have for him influences what they'll take for him, just like Roberts, in the end......

In case anyone wants to start their morning out with a good laugh, a poster on the tigers.com board posted that a package of Marmol, Villters, and Castro (not 1 out of the group, but all 3 combined) would be a good start to a deal for granderson

Thats sounds like an OK deal, as long as they dont mind throwing in Verlander.

On a serious note, I like that Castro is known outside the Cubs circle and that other teams fans are seeing him as a legit prospect.

Yeah I think that is the best thing that can come out of our annual, "trade" that falls through but takes the whole offseason to be resolved. Hopefully with another public, drawn out, trade through the media some of our prospects start to get hyped along with our system. I would think there is a strong chance we rank top 20, maybe even top 15 in farm systems this year.

Phil Rogers posted an article that a source close to the cubs says that Hendry is abosolutely interested and might trade some prospects in the trade. I hope Phil was guessing but he mentioned the cubs building a package around Castro and Vitters. If Hendry trades away either one in a trade for Granderson i would seriously be dissapointed and disgusted with the cubs organization.

I think that's a little harsh. Would anyone here seriously not deal either one of those guys for Granderson straight up?

I honestly wouldn't trade either of them, probably. I'm not overrating our prospects, I just think that Granderson is tremendously overrated.

I'd have hesitations about Castro, but I'd ultimately do it. I'd deal Vitters for Granderson in a heartbeat.

Theres no way in hell Id do both. Do that, and the farm system that Rickets seems very interested in building goes back to the bottom of the barrell.

He's the same guy who said we should trade Castro and Marmol for him, despite the fact that Granderson is a platoon Center Fielder.

i feel like everyone is calling him a platoon cf to say that he's not very good.

Because he's not. He's a platoon player. They are 3 million dollar type players. Not 7-10 mill.

worst post ever?

according to fangraphs, he's been worth $76.7 M in the last 4 years, or $19M per year. he blows against lhp, yes, but despite that, his numbers have been right around grady sizemore level with great defense, which makes him one of the best cf in baseball.

And this is why Phil Rodgers remains one of the worst actively employed writers around. So tired of his hyperbole and irrational thought processes. I've pretty much learned to ignore all things involving him.

I have a bad feeling about this trade if it goes down. IMO Hendry is really in win-now mode and might empty the farm for Granderson.

If we are emptying the farm, meaning Vitters and Castro getting traded, Hendry might as well include Jackson, Carpenter or Cashner and try to get Verlander involved.

Or we could just fire Hendry and not blow up a pretty good farm. If we are trading both Castro and Vitters we better be getting back a Hanley Ramirez type talent.

Pass. Verlander is decent, but he's not worth emptying the farm over.

He's been a 3-4 win player his whole career and put up an 8.2 WAR this year.

If he tries to hopefully Ricketts will step in and veto it.

I still wouldn't empty the farm for him.

If you have to deal prospects away then do it. Castro, Vitters Cashner. Doesn't matter to me if we had to trade a couple of them I don't want another Pie or Hill incident where in a year we do the whole "what if" arguement. If you have a chance to get someone who could make a big difference, which I think Granderson would then do it.

That is why I am glad you are not the GM, no offense. I don't mind trading prospects, but I want a player who can hit both lefties and righties, and Granderson fits in only with half that scenerio. If Granderson was remotely solid against lefties, that's fine, but he's not as he Aaron Miles against lefties and that to me isn't worth Castro/Vitters or Cashner. I wouldn't be opposed to Vitters and a couple of B prospects for Granderson, but Cashner and Castro imo are off limits unless Verlander or Miguel Cabrera are coming back in the deal.

If your going to "empty the farm" for anyone, we better be talking about someone like Johan or Pujols.

According to TCR, there was discussion today on ESPN 1000 where it was said that the Tigers are looking for major league ready players as a return for Granderson. No idea, if this is actually true, but lets assume it is for this discussion anyway. They have Gerald Laird at catcher, what if they want Soto as one of the pieces in return? If they want Soto/Marshall/Guzman, is that something we should consider? Or what about Soto/Wells/Guzman? Too much? What do we think Geo is going to do next year? I figure he settles in midway between the two years myself.
