oh yeah...navy is clearly better than northern iowa.

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt09.htm

Sagarin is great from the middle of the year on.

In the first few weeks it's pretty meaningless.

I read somewhere that the initial ones are hitting something like 60% vs the spread so far this year.

Possible, but it likely just variance. If Sagarin's ratings were consistently beating the lines someone would've figured it out by now, and since Vegas doesn't set their lines according to his predictor ratings that isn't the case.

Sean Lee and Navarro Bowman questionable for the Iowa game :banghead:

So are 3 of Iowa's 4 best offensive players.

Yeah, I'm really not sure I think Iowa has a chance. I think the D will keep it in in it but we don't have much going on offense if Stanzi doesn't learn how to pass (I'm very skeptical that we can run if we can't pass at all) and I don't see how Stanzi's going to play well when his problem seems to be nerves (a lot of overthrows to open receivers and just throwing the ball too hard for his own good some times and not throwing it hard enough at other times, mostly in the first half). I don't see a prime time game in Happy Valley as the game where Stanzi calms his nerves down.

Is it even a given he'd get an extra year of eligibility? He already played in ~20% of the season before the injury.

3/12 is ok, but 3/11 is not.

What about Matt Groethe? This one really makes my stomach sick. He's meant so much to the program, to go out before the programs biggest instate game sucks.

Don't worry about that. From a few insiders, I've heard that Ponder hasn't been practicing much this week due to a knee injury, and he would be listed as doubtful on an NFL-style injury report. I'm pretty sure he'll play, but don't be surprised to see some EJ.

That said, Groethe or not, FSU is going to win.

I know nobody will agree but I think it is possible Indiana could hang with Michigan for a half or so.....if IU can run the football that is. And Middleton/Kirlew need to get pressure on the QB.

If Eastern Michigan can, you can.

I agree with you. Granted they haven't played Michigan caliber opponents, but the D is averaging 3 sacks and 8 TFL per game so far. The DEs are very strong, and can't be blocked all game. Running the ball is the key, as it can keep the Michigan O off the field. Hopefully the Frosh QB can make a few mistakes. IUs best chance is to control the clock and field position.

The Kansas football and basketball teams are apparently involved in their own version of West Side Story. They've fought each other twice in the last 24 hours.

Did Xavier Henry's dad join in?

Stanzi's problem isn't nerves. His problem is he's not good at being a QB

He's not good. He's average at best but I don't think he's miss wide open receivers by 20 feet bad, which he has done quite a bit, especially in the first half.

No, he's really that bad.

I believe Snood made fun of our recruit Sheldon Richardson in the college football offseason thread for some facebook quote earlier this year. From a newspaper article:

Here's some quotes from Tyshawn Taylor's Facebook page:

"I got a dislocated finger ... from throwing a punch, so don't let the newspaper gas ya all up, aite,"

"keep my name out ya mouth for you get smacked in it."

"never get outta character ... I'm always a G about it."

"n-----s be muggin me ... you know I'm mugging back."

Great job jayhawks.

No he's actually pretty solid. For his career he's a 60% completion guy, averages 7.4 per attempt and has 19 TD's to 12 INT's. He's not great but those are solid numbers for a junior Big Ten QB with less than 15 starts under his belt.

As far as the nerves thing, in first halves this year he's completed 49% and has an efficiency of 93. In second halves he's completed 73.3% and has an efficiency of 163. He's obviously having some sort of issues with being too amped up or something in the first half.

And in regards to him missing his receivers by 20 yards at times, the one on Saturday was on Reisner. Ferentz and Reisner both said he ran the wrong route. The throw where he missed Moeaki at ISU was awful though.

By the way was it you or manbear that I had the back and forth with regarding Shonn last year? I never get my rightful gloating out of that.
