injuryexpertRT @LangoschMLB: Pirates deal John Grabow and Tom Gorzelanny to Cubs for RHP Kevin Hart, RHP Jose Ascanio, IF Josh Harrison

I LOVE Ascanio.:(

I do too, wish he would have stuck earlier.

Ahh well, not really a bad trade for a servicable LOOGY and whatever Gorzelanny will become.

I actually liked Hart's potential. But at least we aren't giving up Jackson.

I second that one. I actually think that with a little command improvement, Hart could be a pretty good one.

So in the grand scheme of things, we trade: Jacque Jones, Will Ohman, Freddy Bynum, and Josh Harrison for John Grabow and Tom Gorzalanny.

Yea but its not like Hart is some real young kid. Hes 26 and command has always been a problem for him. He may be an ok #5 starter for a team like the Pirates, but I doubt he becomes much more than that.

You're right and it looks good for that.

LOL at everyone freaking out earlier. This is a pretty good trade IMO. We add Grabow to the pen, put Marshall in the rotation, and have Gorzalanny in the minors hoping that he can get back to pitching like he did in 06 and 07. Basically we gave up Ascaino/Harrison for Grabow and swapped simliar pitchers in Hart and Gorzalanny. But overall I like Marshall in the rotation over Hart and think Grabow will be fine out of the pen. Gorzelanny is more of a project but the Cubs probably like his potential still and feel they can turn him around.

Lets move Cashner to the rotation until Lilly gets back, and then move him to the pen. (ducks)

:flame:

The bad thing is, Im half assed serious about it, but I know it wont happen.

I'd love it if this means Marshall is going to be a starter again, even though Grabow as a LOOGY is gonna suuuuuuuuuuuuck.

Grabow will be fine

Meh...we didn't give up much (though I agree that Ascanio could be good), but we didn't get much either, IMO. Feels more like a move-to-make-a-move to me, we shall see. Still very curious why Jackson was pulled from the Daytona game....more interested in that than this trade

I wouldn't be surprised if the move is Grabow becomes the Loogy, Marshall becomes available to be a 1-2 inning pitcher out of the pen, Atkins down and Gorzelanny to the rotation.

MLBTR is saying Gorzo is heading to AAA

That doesn't preclude him from being the 5th starter. The Cubs would want to wait to activate him until directly before his start (since he wouldn't be needed for the next 4 games).

It might still be Marshall, or Samardijza, or somebody else starting, but it also could very well be Gorzelanny.

Makes me wonder if we're getting a bat later. Although I have to admit, after watching the Cubs put up 24 runs in the last two games it seems kind of silly to want a bat.

While the Pirates minor leagues probably look pretty great right now, who the hell is still on that team!? I can't think of anyone.

doumit

Easy, this is a family board.

Yea thats true as well. I have a hard time believing Lou is going to put Marshall back in the rotation, and Shark hasnt impressed, so my guess is Gorzo is the 5th starter, unless we get someone else before tomorrow, who is then moved to the pen when Lilly gets back.
