How many prospects should it take to get Grabow? The guy has a 1.57 whip this year. Would rather have Sherrill but I'm pretty sure Baltimore is asking for too much.

Baltimore's asking for way too much. Bruce said they wanted two of Cashner/Castro/Jackson/Carpenter to start the deal. I don't blame them for asking for the moon (they don't have to trade Sherill, and with the number of teams asking for him somebody may cave) but there's no reason anybody should pay that price, especially not the Cubs.

Grabow's very inconsistent. I don't think he'd be much of a help and wouldn't trade what the Pirates are asking for him.

I'm not sure what I'd trade for him simply because if it was anyone I was familiar with, I wouldn't want them traded for Grabow. Stay away, Hendry. Please.

Yeah some of these team's asking price for left-handed relievers who aren't even that good is ridiculous. We just need to trade for a bat and hope B.J. Ryan will make it up here. Couldn't Teahen learn 2B?

I would think one mid-level prospect should be plenty.

That's because some of these team's obsession with left handedness is ridiculous.

If you saw Jim Hendry dump DeRosa, and add Miles in an effort to get more left handed, and heard Lou Piniella freaking out about the need to keep Sean Marshall in the bullpen, you'd probably try and get as much as possible for your run-of-the-mill lefty.

The only way Id take Grabow is as a throw in in a deal for Sanchez. Otherwise, Id rather give Gaub a shot and wait to see what Ryan can do.

That's pretty much the way I feel, Grabow isn't going to put us over the top. IDK why we are so set on getting a lefty in the pen, Marshall has been great as our loogy and Lou seems reluctant to use him in any other role so what would that mean for Marshall? If we would take on the remainder of Sanchez's contract I think we could work Grabow into a deal.

Does Jim Hendry review stats other than ERA when looking to acquire relief pitchers? a 1.57 WHIP is not what he should be looking for in a relief pitcher.

Looking at Grabow's splits show that he is actually more effective against Righties than Lefties, and that he walks a lot of batters. Why bother?

Because that seems to be the exact type of reliever the Cubs love for some reason, they are brought in to be used as something when their splits show they should be used in a different way and they all have problems throwing strikes. This is nothing new.

Knowing Hendry, he will get Grabow and Jack Wilson.

I agree with Jeff, either Rhodes or Beimel.

Rhodes looked good this past weekend against the Cubs and his numbers back it up.

Rhodes looked good this past weekend? Hes got good numbers this year, but he got beat around on Sunday.

Ive got a feeling Im going to be pissed off around 3pm Friday

You mean when we get John Grabow and Jack Wilson for Jay Jackson, Chris Carpenter, and Starlin Castro?

Wouldn't doubt that move, I would prefer something more like Castro, Ascanio/Hart, and Josh Harrison for Duke/Maholm and Sanchez. I think that's a fairly reasonable deal for both sides.
