This list is hilarious for a lot of reasons, and I hate to pick on any one poster in particular, but the thought of Sulley running the Cubs clubhouse made me laugh out loud.

but who exactly do you think it was that convinced Hendry to start focusing more on OBP?

Don't know a name, but I am guessing it wasn't you.

Good day.

Oh thank god... I finally figured out you were just trolling. My radar has been off for a while now. Welcome to the ignore list, whoever's alt login you are.

by NPC, you meant MPC, right?
No, he meant NPC. Not Pitching, Calfzilla. :D

Any other nerds read that and think "Non-Player Character"?

Is that a D&D reference?

General role-playing video game term.

I always thought it was non-playable character, but I may just not know what I'm talking about.

Why does Lou insist on running us into outs whenever we have runners on base? He had Aramis of all people running on a 3-2 pitch to Fontenot last night with 0 outs in the inning. He needs to stop over-managing.

Most people will look at that as the manager trying to make something happen. If it works, the manager is pressing the right buttons, if it fails, the players failed to execute.

Either quit telling Theriot to steal 2nd, or give him the red light moron. Quit running us into outs in every single freaking game.

He's been caught stealing twice. Every game?

I think he's talking to Lou, not just Theriot. Players are running into outs just about every game. They have 7 CS on 14 attempts, and they've made numerous other baserunnings gaffes.

Yes exactly what I was talking about. Either Lou needs to start giving the red light to these guys, or somebody needs to tell Lou that he doesnt have the fastest and/or best baserunning club here, and to just stop with the steals.

I don't know what the deal is, but doesn't it seem a little much to believe that Lou doesn't realize Theriot isn't a good base stealer? I mean -- he sees him get thrown out all the time just like everyone else.

Ok this is a couple days late since I was in Stl all weekend, but maybe someone else can answer me. On Saturday, why did Lou pitch to Brian Barden with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 1 out with the pitcher on deck and Brendan Ryan in the hole? We have had trouble getting Barden out all year, and the pitcher is on deck, wtf Lou. I was sitting in the stadium just amazed that Lou decided to pitch to Barden who surprise surprise, hits a 2 RBI single. Seriously I think Lou is asleep so far this season.

Anybody else feel like Lou's panicky nature rubs off on the players? I started feeling that way last season and it's even worse this year. Guy has one bad day in the field? He's banned. Guy walks a couple of batters but gets out of the inning? Clanup duty for the next 3 months. Guy hits a home run but it only goes into the first row? GRAB SOME BENCH. And that's not even talking about his lineups. "We're going to try Soriano in the 3 hole and see how that works". Then after TWO games, it's "well we tried it, and it didn't work". Uh no Lou, you didn't try it.

Seriously, a panicky manager is the last thing this organization needs. It's only going to get worse.

Oh, and this whole thing with sending out Rothschild to make the pitching changes needs to stop. Yeah we get it, you're pissed and don't feel like going out. Suck it up and stop acting like a little kid. It's embarrassing.

Are there anymore pitchers with a 0.00 ERA that Lou can fire after tonight's fine showing?

This was definitely awesome.

I just laughed when I saw the lineup on Sunday against the Cardinals and saw that it took Lou all of two games to move Soriano back to the leadoff spot. Pretty much any Cubs fan who actually follows the team knew when Soriano was batting third on Friday that it wasn't going to last more than a few games because of Lou's tendency to make changes after such a small sample.

And he picks random dudes to throw under the bus. Why was he so hard on Scott Eyre last year? He wasn't nearly as bad as Howry yet Eyre is banished while Howry and his trusty gas can get run out there almost every day?

Lou Piniella is a fraud and totally overrated manager. 0-6 in the playoffs with the Cubs......1 freaking pennant in his career.

Posted

He threw Eyre under the bus cause he walked people and was fat. He didn't care that Howry pitched batting practice as long as he didn't dare walk people.

Saying he won just 1 pennant without adding that it was a seriously outmatched Reds team is a little disingenuous. He certainly underachieved in the postseason with the Mariners though. YMMV on how responsible he(or anyone in particular is for that)
