It isn't obvious to everyone else that the plan is:

Sign Miles to fill DeRosa's spot, trade DeRosa to Indians for prospects to spin to SD for Peavy?

ya think.

Between Wood and Derosa I would become an Indians fan in the AL.

Ya, no kidding, me too. Nothing like rooting for the 2 teams with the longest droughts, too!

Indians Set To Acquire Mark DeRosa, Trade Jeff Stevens

Posted by Tony at 12:44 PM

No official word on this at the moment, but apparently the Indians have agreed to a deal in principle to acquire infielder Mark DeRosa from the Cubs in exchange for reliever Jeff Stevens and a few other minor leaguers. No word on how many other players will be traded or what minor leaguers the Indians are sending out, but this is what I have learned as of now.

Anybody know anything about Stevens? Wow! almost 2 months goes by without a significant move and now it seems as though Hendry has awoken from his slumber and is on the verge of making multiple moves.

Not to be Debbie Downer, but what if these moves aren't leading to a bigger move, but only to lower payroll under management directive?

We would have a starting outfield of Soriano, Johnson, Fukudome and a starting infield of Ramirez, Theriot, Fontenot, and Lee.

That's not winning a World Series.

It would be a rather horrific offseason.

Well some of you are like, "I want blah blah from CLE" and "WTF Aaron Miles sucks"

when it seems so obvious that this is all leading up to a Peavy deal...

Not sure if they are doing a rerun of the 11am show or if the 11am show runs until 1pm but Jonathan Hood on Espn1000 just said that coming up on the show more breaking news from Bruce Levine on the Cubs.

Levine reports that Derosa was just traded to the indians for pitching prospects Jeff Stevens, Chris Archer and John Gobbs.

This is a good point. Obviously Hendry is making some downgrades to trim payroll.

What happens to the money saved is anyone's guess.

Most want to believe it creates enough space for both Bradley and Peavy.

He could just as easily be trying to fit Bradley only.

Or even neither is a possibility.

Stevens looks like a quality reliever with a high K rate, Archer is only 19, but has zero control, and I don't know about Gobbs. I hope the Pads want these guys.

I can't find a John Gobbs in their minor league system, but I see John Gaub. Big time strikeout numbers:
