I don't need to fight this one out with anybody. The Cubs do have the financial resources to both win now and in the future. Our horrible owners are the reason people like you think we need to choose.

He's an elite level defensive player at an important position with great speed, and he showed last year he has power (37 doubles and 31 homers). Yes, he had a rough second half, but he's going into his age 24 season. He was a ~6 WAR player last year. You complain about his emotions, but horsefeathers that. You can complain about his OBP and lack of walks, but those could and should improve a bit as he matures. I doubt he'll ever be a .370 OBP guy, but with everything else he brings to the table, there no reason not to like him. -
Wasn't it an 0-2 pitch? You're not intentionally hitting a guy with elite speed and subpar plate discipline when ahead two strikes in a close game.

TKR played with a level of energy I don't think I've seen from him before. He came out of the gates aggressively, which was great to see.

For me, it's this moreso than the hire itself. On the surface anyway, it seems that the Cubs are out in front of the off-season for once, which I like to see.

I remember there being a story or something of him getting a necklace or vanity license plate (or possibly both) signifying that he joined the 30-30 club.

Boog genuinely seems like he enjoys what he does. He gives off that same vibe when he's calling college basketball games, too. He's just happy to be there and be able to talk about sports for a few hours. That goes a long way toward making the broadcast enjoyable. He doesn't come off as smug like the Brennamans of the world. And I do get a kick out of him tearing down Girardi's arguments with stats. JD, as mentioned by someone else earlier, is one of the best in the business.

I think we notice it more because there are some really ****** analysts on TV. With the good ones, especially if they have a good rapport with the play-by-play guy, you really don't notice it as much. For better or worse though, that's what they're getting paid to do. Producers don't want dead air. And out of the 4 main sports, football has the most downtime between plays, so there is this "need" to fill that time with something. Baseball is somewhat similar, although much less so, especially now that we have the pitch clock. Basketball (and I assume hockey, although I've never called a hockey game) is easy because there is constant action to describe/talk about.

I actually turned the game on at the start of that half inning, and it took me a second to realize what was happening. That was...rough.

Dempster isn't horrible when he fills in. Sutcliffe and Girardi are difficult to listen to, although Girardi has become a bit more tolerable as the season has progressed. I'm not a fan of the 3-man booth, but Girardi is much better in that environment than if it's just him and Boog.

I knew about two of those, but I wouldn't have guessed the other two.

Rarity scores will take a hit today, as there aren't a lot of options for the lower-left square.

I feel he has a much stronger shot at producing at the big league level than a 22-year old catcher with a .513 OPS at high A, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

If (obviously this is a big if) the Cubs can extend Bellinger, he could start 2024 in CF with Mervis at 1B. You have PCA waiting in the wings, as well as several other outfielders with that ugly word "potential". If PCA shows he's ready and Mervis isn't hitting, you can move Bellinger to 1B. If PCA shows he's ready and Mervis is hitting, you have a great "problem" on your hands. If Suzuki doesn't fix his issues, PCA could take over CF, with Bellinger moving to RF and Mervis at 1B. There are scenarios where you can give him a shot and still have options if he struggles.
