  1. If every DH were David Ortiz in his prime, this might be a different story. But that's not how it works. The average DH hit .252/.339/.467 for a line just 10% better than league average. But we're not talking about having them replace a league-average hitter. They're replacing guys who are lucky to hit .150.
  2. he's a CF? Last year 23 innings at second, 393 innings in left, 226 innings in center. Obviously graded out as a slightly negative defender, so probably a defensive downgrade over Almora...who knows about second base. He's played more 2B (215 innings) than OF (145 innings) this year.
  3. well probably just insane FB/HR luck. He has more HRs than singles, doubles and triples combined The fact that he's playing in a much more homerun-friendly ballpark doesn't hurt either.
  4. Last night's game and the game against TN were ridiculously intense. Seeing Purdue lose sucks, but damn, that was a great game to watch.
  5. I don't know how anyone forgets him considering he hit three homers against Dwight Gooden on opening day that season.
  6. i mean those are all things that if the white sox don't check, neither do the cubs lol I view the Cubs as a far better "location" draw than the White Sox in terms of Wrigley and just generally the stage the Cubs are on vs the White Sox and also don't the White Sox have some of the worst ST facilities in all of MLB? Or am I confusing them with someone else? Don't they share a fairly new spring training facility with the Dodgers now?
  7. Just got my tickets for this and the All-Star game. Really looking forward to this.
  8. From a superficial look, he's getting super unlucky. His BABIP is 100 points below his career average, with no material change in batted ball type. He is pulling the ball more so maybe he's hitting into shifts a bit, but not 100 points of BABIP bad. Small sample size and all that, but he's also striking out at an alarming rate lately with 25 K in his last 56 plate appearances.

  10. how'd she sneak that contraband in?! My friend brought his W flag to the game in a backpack. There were quite a few people there with them.
  11. Mildly related: I hate hearing the guy on SiriusXM who is reading off the days games and the respective stations carrying those games. He'll phrase it as "Milwaukee into Chicago" instead of "Milwaukee at Chicago" or "the Cubs hosting the Brewers". Using the word "into" just sounds weird.
  12. They found him: [tweet] [/tweet]
  13. Call your wife the wrong name at the wrong time? Is there a right time?
  14. I have nothing to add to this thread that hasn't already been said. I'm just posting in order to officially be a part of the Game 7 thread. :flythew:
  15. I'm on here pretty much every day but rarely post. It's been great reading through the game threads after every postseason win. Four more to go!
  16. We have a half-season ticket package for the Nats, so I was able to secure postseason tickets. I plan to be at games 3 and 4 here in mid-Oct. (the 18th and 19th) when the Cubs complete their sweep of the Nationals in the NLCS.
  17. Can't take first on a dropped third strike if it is occupied with less than two outs.
  18. I do have to give their TV crew some credit for last night's game. They were very critical of the umpire with respect to the Fowler ejection. All things considered, I thought they did a decent job with the broadcast last night.
  19. She might be the one in trouble. She's the one wearing a ring.
  20. I've never been to the exhibitionist games before, although there were the nude olympics on campus when I was in college.
  21. I'm close, but I'm not in a profession where it's going to benefit me much.
  22. Got my flight booked to Vegas to see the Cubs there March 30 and April 1.
