I've wanted him for years, although he continues to prove the naysayers right about never being healthy. I finally turned myself off on him as the offseason began, but looking at the current outfield situation, I actually like Bradley a lot once again. If you can go into the '09 season with Soriano, Fukudome, Bradley, Johnson and Hoffpauir, with DeRosa as a spot starter on occasion as well, I think you have all the depth you really need and you don't have to count on Bradley to be healthy for the full year. When he's in there, he sure can produce. He's now another full season removed from his knee injury, so maybe you can get a solid 120-130 games out of him. That might be all you can expect from the aging guys like Ibanez or Abreu as well. Actually, Ibanez is completely off my radar since Seattle offered him arbitration.

He only played 20 games in the field last year. But, it sounded like he wasn't happy to be DHing as often as he was. Texas just wanted to make sure he didn't reinjure that knee. Bradley did steal 5 bases last year, which is a sign that the knee felt good enough to run.

Put it this way, if the Cubs could survive with Moises Alou in LF for 3 yrs, 03-04 was Alou 2nd best 2 yr stretch of healthy by playing in 306 games, with 97-98 being his best playing in 309 in two yrs, and Andre Dawson, who five of his best yrs health wise came with the Cubs (88-89, and 90-92), I think Cubs could survive with Bradley. I think it worth the risk to bring Bradley in, especially if you still have DeRosa, Johnson, and Fukudome on the roster, and you can mix and match to make sure everybody is healthy.

I see Bradley almost like Rich Harden, you just hope he's healthy a good chunk of the season. But the most important thing is to have his bat in the line-up for the postseason.

Looking to fill one of its biggest holes, the Cubs met with free-agent outfielder Milton Bradley, a source linked to the negotiations told ESPNdeportes.com.

The source informed that the meeting took place Sunday night at a hotel in Las Vegas, but did not report if the team made a formal offer.

Bradley, 30, batted .321 with 22 home runs and 77 RBI in 126 games with the Rangers in 2008.

Is anyone else concerned that Bradley couldn't handle deal with the media for a major market team? This is the same media that goes overboard against Ramirez for supposedly not hustling enough.

As long as we've got Mike Fontenot around to free up DeRosa to cover RF once in a while, we can absorb a couple suspensions and a trip to the DL.

He handled himself well enough in Los Angeles. The Chicago media can be a bit rough at times, but I can't imagine it being a whole lot tougher than LA.

Any idea what type of contract Bradley is looking for? I thought I read somewhere he doesn't want a real long term deal (no more than 2-3 years). Bradley is my #1 option for RF for us and I think with our depth/flexibility we can afford for him to only play in 115-125 games, he could be the Harden of the offense and the goal is really to make sure he is healthy in October. 2 years@ 22 mil. with a 3rd year team/mutual option for $13-15 mil. wouldn't be a terrible signing IMO.

Around 3/30 is the estimate

Ken Rosenthal spoke to a Rangers official who expects Milton Bradley to move on (at least they'll snag a supplemental pick). This official believes the Rays and, surprisingly, the Royals are the leading suitors for Bradley.

The Rays are all hung up on "character" guys so I don't see them going for Bradley.

I can confirm Cubs spoke with Bradley's agent today. Blogged it. See you guys in the morning.

Thanks Bruce!

Good work today.

That's not fair... It's not like he's in his late 30s, will cost over 10 mil a year, will forfeit our first round draft pick, sucks horribly in the field, and only has an average bat.

Somebody on another board was saying that Dave Kaplan said on his show that a "very good source" told him that Dunn and his agent have been "begging" the Cubs to take a look at him and that he really wants to play for the Cubs. Keep in mind this is Kaplan we're talking about.

Milton Bradley Rumors: Tuesday

By Tim Dierkes [December 9 at 8:33am CST]

According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, the Cubs are in "intense discussions" with Milton Bradley. The Cubs are known to have met with Bradley Sunday; the Rays lunched with him yesterday.

I honestly just can't see Milton Bradley working out well, especially if DeRo is dealt. I'm probably the only person here that is absolutely against this move.

I'd be more concerned with how he handles Wrigley fans, who'll start booing him after his first 0-for-8 stretch.

Why would they do that?
