Ibanez was terrible defensively, almost completely negating his bat.

Wow, that's one hell of a bad glove seeing how Ibanez's bat is responsible for roughly scoring and driving in about 200 runs.

I'm not going to defend his defense, but maybe some people are getting carried away? Just a little?

i dont think you understand how that works

Yeah you can't count the home runs twice. Either way he was easily the worst player in the history of baseball. Probably a bad idea.

This was posted on Rotoworld this morning:

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com speculates that Jeremy Hermida "could be the next arbitration-eligible Marlin to be traded."

He adds that trading several other players means the Marlins "are now flexible enough to be choosy." According to Rosenthal, the Cubs and Rays are among the teams interested in Hermida, who's a 24-year-old career .267/.342/.436 hitter.

Odd that the Cubs top offseason need is a power lefty bat for RF, but then they trade a minor league arm for a reliever with the team who probably has the best available power lefty RF bat.

Anyone think that Peavy and Hermida are either/or? It could be that some of the same guys they would need to trade to get Peavy would also be needed to trade for Hermida.

Come on Jimbo, make it happen with Hermida :beg:

After having read that the Marlins are looking for a big package for Hermida I've resigned myself to the fact that the Cubs are going to be unable to trade for him. It's too bad for, he perfectly fits the mold of what Lou wants next season - young, athletic and a LHB - I don't doubt he'd have a big season playing half his game in Wrigley. That leaves FA options of Bradley, Abreu and Ibanez, Bradley, I believe, is the best choice followed by Abreu and Ibanez - I hope we don't see him in RF next season, why do I keeping thinking this is who Hendry' going to ink?

Also need to figure that whoever Hendry does sign should be someone that will not cost him any picks. I'd bet the Yankees would offer arbitration for Abreu. Bradley and Ibanez, probably will not be offered arby.

From the Elias thread I see Ibanez is an A Type FA that's means a 1st Rd draft choice right? Bradley' a B does that involve the sandwhich picks?

Oh, I didn't know Bradley was a "B". Figured he'd be an "A". I'd guess that puts Bradley in the driver's seat.

I was thinking along the same lines if so, may here would be pleased, including me.

All of these guys are atrocious in the field, except for perhaps Bradley, who is difficult to gauge since he never plays defense because he's such a risk to get hurt.

It's amazing to me that this little detail is just swept under the rug, especially considering the dollars and years that are involved here.

We're looking at winding up with a $12M/yr DH here, fellas.

Tx is stupid if they don't offer Bradley arbitration. This was his first healthy year in a long time, no way he goes for a one-year deal.

If the choices are Bradley, Abreu, and Ibanez (and Dunn?), get ready for horrible defense in RF. Rating those 4 defensively is a joke.

This topic turned out well, I was reading it and I thought "Oh my God, a Raul Ibanez and Milton Bradley lovefest, make it stop." Then some people did.

Ibanez will be 37 next season and he plays outfield defense like Matt Stairs and Daryl Ward.

Milton Bradley just isn't very good. He never stays healthy, apparently even playing as a DH. His home/away splits look SOMEWHAT SUSPICIOUS. His BABIP in 2008 was .388.

Actually, Milton Bradley is a very good player, he's just never healthy enough to prove it over the course of a full year. Anyone's splits playing for Texas will be lopsided.

His production numbers from previous years playing in regular parks and such are still impressive if stretched out over the course of a full year

So...Hermida's not here yet but Kevin Gregg is?

Hermida would be an ARam-esque acquisition.

I was thinking more like Carlos Quinten.

At least we hope so. Depending on the players it could be a low risk high reward acquisition. Don't forget, in 2006, many many experts pegged Hermina as the likely ROY before injuries messed that up.

I would hope that we wouldn't have to top an offer from a team like the Giants . Furcal has been reported to being very very close to being a Cub before the Dodgers came in with a huge offer. Furcal should be jumping at a chance to join the best offense in the league last season.

The Blue jays are going hard after Milton Bradley according to XM this morning.

Read someone today that Furcals agent will be in Chicago meeting with Soto who he also represents no word on if Furcals agent will meet with Hendry . Furcal has said he will cut his list of teams down to 3 next couples days.

According to another board Levine was just on ESPN 1000 and said Bradley is the only RF Hendry is looking at. Gotta love that .436 OBP and .999 OPS. His injury history is somewhat discouraging, but with our depth we could afford to have him play in only 120-130 games.

If we got Milton Bradley, the bleacher bums would have to shape up or Milton might just have a word with them after the game.

Love Bradley's 2008 numbers, but don't love the fact that he's played more than 101 games only twice in his career.

DO IT JIM!!! PLEASE! Make my day. Bradley, Furcal and Peavy are the guys that I want and I can live without Peavy if we can somehow get the other two :)

He's the "only" RF he's looking at? I find that extremely hard to believe.
