  1. Then Hermida could sign with anyone he wanted.
  2. "Yes, I'm being told that Average Joe's does not have enough players and will be forfeiting the championship match." "It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for 'em."
  3. Please make this happen :beg:
  4. Chicago has White Sox fans, so yeah, there probably is more ignorant racism in Chicago than other places. :P
  5. Am I the only one that has a hard time believing that he's 35?
  6. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/story/12420360 Sportsline reports he's been fired...
  7. Who's on the FA market this year that can play CF and what do they project to make? That'd be kind of key to whether I'd care of Kosuke left or not.
  8. If the Cubs make the move for Burrell, I can't help but think he's gotta be destined to getting flipped back to another team in the AL. There has to be alot more potential takers for Burrell than Bradley. I think that's the best way to get max return for Bradley at this point. Who knows if Hendry realizes this.
  9. I like the story linked in the margin about most Cowboys players not being smart enough to be a cheerleader... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=reilly_rick&id=4491594&sportCat=nfl
  10. I would have went out of my way to get thrown out. Pull an old-school Lou move and throw a base or something. I'd have to call his one game as a manager a fail as a result.
  11. Pot....tea kettle. Tea kettle...pot.
  12. Mantle made $100,000 during his last season. I wouldn't mind paying Ankiel like Mantle. I'd be willing to pay him what Mantle, Mays, Dimaggio and Snider all made in their last seasons combined.
  13. I wouldn't call Bradley for Rowand horrible. More like meh. Hendry's going to move Bradley come hell or high water this offseason. There's alot of worse possibilities out there. I hope he holds out for something better, as I'm rather ambivalent to the possibility of trading him for Rowand. Save the money on the last year, I think. Unless, that is, they throw in a legit prospect to go with him, then I'd reconsider depending on the prospect.
  14. He actually got a good return for Todd Freaking Hundley. If he gets a good return for Bradley, it'll be a nice move, but not that big of a miracle. As bad as he is, Bradley has to have more value than Hundley did.
  15. I'd do Burrell for Bradley straight up if Tampa would do that (no money going the other way). Then we could flip Burrell back to another AL team much easier that we could move Bradley to anyone else without swallowing most of the remaining 20 mil he's owed.
  16. He played through elbow pain all of the 2008 season before finally getting TJS in the offseason. Even before that, he was on the DL in 2007 during his first stint at AA with a sore elbow. And as Outshined_One mentioned, he took a while to recover from the offseason TJS and concussion this season. He still played over his head in the second half of the season and is unlikely to sustain that level of play without improving his patience. So a little bit of both. Still sounds like an interesting guy to follow, if for no other reason it was an unusual gamble for Wilkin.
  17. No real reasoning behind it, but I think McFadden is going to break out a big game this week.
  18. I never followed Colvin much, but I do know he had that elbow reconstruction not to long ago. How much of his initial sucktitude with us had to do with that? Was the second half just him finally being past the injury (kind of like DLee and his wrist) or a flash in the pan, or a little bit of both? Maybe I'm the typical over-optimistic Cubs fan, but Wilken did have a great history with Toronto on his first round picks, so I'm hopeful he could be back on track to being a legit major leaguer.
  19. You're joking, right? In addition to those already noted, how about Matt Clement, Joe Borowski, Mike Wuertz (despite the fact no one ever wanted to give him much of a chance), Will Ohman, or even Randy Wells this year as pitchers who flourished under him? Wells, for example, was never supposed to be able to be a full time starter in the majors and keep an ERA much under 5.
  20. I'd go Forte and Jackson. Gore got a little banged up last week. He may not be back to 100% by Sunday, and is going against a tough D this week. Forte's due for a good game (Johnny Knox may help make some defenses a little more honest on the run), and NO can be run on. Jackson's had a heck of a start.
  21. Pick one of Ray Rice, Pierre Thomas, or Derrick Ward? Johnny Knox or Hester? Greg Olsen or Todd Heap? (yeah, I'm a little bit of a homer with this team this year...)
  22. Does your league have like 4 teams?
  23. Is that what happens when you name your kid after a company that makes board games?
  24. First of all I don't think adults are calling a toddler the n word. I tried to picture a scenario in which an adult could direct that kind of angry aggression towards a little tyke. All I could picture was a 3 year old version of MB brooding and stomping around which could totally be reality but I still can't see that prompting racial slurs upon him. Or this is MB's kid. http://slicedbreadtwo.com/images/uploads/thats_racist.gif I really hope no one believes this BS. First off, the kid is 3. He's not in school. He'd be in daycare or something like that. I have a hard time believing someone that makes as much as Milton doesn't have his kid in a high-priced private setup, if not a live-in nanny, or some other arrangement where he could very, very easily get results after complaining about an issue such as this. I totally agree, this is total BS.
  25. I've got a handful of decent RB options, no standouts. I need to start three out of this pool: McFadden Rice Thomas Bell Hightower Ward Right now, I'm leaning toward McFadden, Rice, and Ward. I'm kind of thinking it doesn't really matter who I pick, other than leaving Thomas on the bench until he has a good game showing he's back to 100%. I'm leery on Hightower after last week despite all of the receptions.
