Wait, so you're telling me the Cubs score more runs in wins than they do in losses? Shocking, I tell you.

The Cubs are 12-8 since the All-Star Break. That is what's important.

Yup but there are several ways you can analyze how they are losing. They have been slightly inconsistent offensively.

That's how every team is. I picked the Rays randomly.

In wins: 2, 6, 4, 4, 5, 5, 3, 3, 5, 9, 6, 8, 10.

In losses: 4, 1, 2, 1, 1, 2, 1.

The rays have 3 wins below 4 runs. The cubs have a 3 run gap between their closest win and loss.

Yeah, that comparison isn't good if you are trying to say everybody is like that. The Rays have won scoring only 2-3 runs. The Cubs have been shut out twice, and scored 9 or more six times.

The Cubs are also a better offensive team than the Rays. Every team has days where they don't hit. I don't care how good of an offense you have. That's how baseball is.

Still, you don't get a lot of 20 game stretches where you have no losses where your team scored more than two and no wins where you scored less than 5.

Looper rolled through that inning with way too much ease.

This is where I wish the #3-5 hitters still had power.

Fixed.

Ramirez has power. Derrek Lee is so overrated. He has turned himself into Mark Grace. Which is fine, if you aren't paying him as much as we are and batting him in the three hole.

You do when your starting pitching has been solid.

Cubs runs allowed in the losses: 2, 4, 2, 9, 3, 3, 3, 2.

If the Cubs had scored 5 runs in each of those games, they would have gone 7-1 in that stretch.

Grace spent the majority of his career in the three hole.

Do you not see that when you keep adding "if this happens" statements something becomes increasingly unlikely?

I've been talking up replacing Derrek at #3 next year for a while now.

Aramis has his awesome flashes this season, but he's having a down year and has large stretches of crappiness going back a couple months now.

Fukudome is still adjusting and Soto is streaky as hell.

Why not bat Edmonds #5?

On some really good teams.... Oh wait.
