52 pitches through 5 for Ted.

Also, 41 strikes, 11 balls, which is a strike to ball ratio that is stuff of legends.

Getting out of that was a gift. Now, it's time to pay.

Well, getting into it was a gift, too, TLR just returned it.

seriously, TLR is really a hack..I had to listen to a bunch of crap of a Cards fan today at work on how great Larussa is...

He gets strategy happy a lot, I'll admit. But he has a good team year in and year own when conventional wisdom says he shouldn't. I don't like the guy much, but a "hack" is overstating it.

TLR manages the pitching staff really well, and does some good things with the lineup, but his in-game strategy is far too aggressive to the point of self-destruction.

Almost Rich Harden territory

God you are embarassing yourself Plesac by suggesting that this is the best offense he's seen since the late-90's Yankees. You better be careful if you are going to make statements like that.

Good point.

I like that Lilly has a low pitch count, I just don't trust that he can go 8 or 9. He tends to have that bad inning, and if he goes seven without having it I'd just get him out of there.

The reason for that is Duncan.

God dammit hit the ball of this [expletive] clown.

So I guess this is one of our "offense isn't going to show up days" Otherwise we'd have 4-5 runs by now. We have been losing these games since the ASB.

They couldn't hit Brian Moehler. What makes you think they'll hit Looper?

We really didn't make Looper work too hard that inning. Let's hope Lilly can mow through the top of the order one more time.

To be fair, Lilly and Soriano batted that inning.

Duncan has done wonders with that bullpen. And I don't know how he's managed to have the 8th best offense in the majors...he's a miracle worker.... ;)

Look at what he has done with that starting rotation

That's all well and good...and I'm not saying Duncan has done a bad job at all. But to give him all the credit is missing the big picture.

How about inning by inning? There have been maybe 2 games where the Cubs jumped on a team early. The last two, actually.
