Now that the Astros are out of town, it's time to get down to business.

Today it's Braden Looper (10-9, 4.29)

VS.

Theodore Roosevelt Lilly (11-6, 4.35)

On the surface it seems like an even matchup, but let's go for a repeat of Wednesday's result. It's time to put the dirty birds down.

Go Cubs!

I'd be happy with 2 of 3 but a sweep would obviously be ideal.

Looper's numbers in day games this year are atrocious. We should beat the snot out of him today.

Two of three is certainly reasonable if not, expected this series, basically it boils down to the Cubs playing good baseball. If they do, it'll be awfully hard for the Cardinals to win more than one game.

too much optimism in this thread...i think the cubs lose 2 of 3 to these jerkoffs.

Pujuols will go 9-14 this series, 3 HRs, 4 2Bs, 3 BBs, Cubs lose all 3 by a combined score of 24-6

Lets see, Brewers enter Cardinals house, sweep them. Cubs enter Brewers house, sweep them. I suppose it would complete the circle. Still, It aint gonna happen. They'll be exposed or what they really are.

Finish Them!

The Cards need at least 2 of these, and probably all 3, to keep their division hopes alive. I'm hoping Lou can practice a little jujitsu when LaRussa starts overmanaging and really pin these guys to the wall.

All 3 pitching matchups favor us, including Dempster/Carpenter, as long as our offense realises that the key with him is to drive up his pitch count early.

From what we've seen thus far there's a good chance the offense realizes the key to beating any pitcher is diving up his pitch count.

Obviously, but with Carp in particular. He was pulled from his last outing with 50 some pitches after 5 just before the rain delay. I cant see him getting more than 80 this time, unless TLR hates the Cubs so much that he's willing to risk re injuring the guy.
