jsonline is reprorting a deal for Sabathia is a real possiblity, that the brewers have there scouts looking at him and cleveland is scouting the brewers double a team and single a teams. The person who they are looking at is 3rd baseman Taylor Green at single A, a few others but it doesn't look like either Laporta or Gamel will be part of it.

If Laporta/Gamel isn't apart of it, he's not going to Milwaukee.

My guess is Cleveland is looking at everyone. I doubt Taylor Green is the centerpiece, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. The Brewers have a deep system, so there's enough there for a deal, but my guess is that it would include one of Salome, Gamel, or Escobar and then probably Gillespie or Brantley too.

Taylor Green? The third baseman with a sub-.150 IsoP? The same one with 36 errors in 170 games at 3B? That's the guy they're after?

Green and Gamel....wow that's a lot of errors.

On a side note, I think an interesting part of a package with the Brewers that definitely would be worth a look would be Michael Brantley.

Not True. Milwaukee could put together a package without either of them.

Would it be enough to stop the teams like D-Rays/Cubs/Red Sox from getting CC?

I'm not so sure.

Personally, I think that the Rays will focus on relief with Percival struggling a bit and now on the DL. The Brewers can put together a better package than the Cubs and the Red Sox.

If this is true, its time to set our sights on Harden, and push hard. I know the A's are still very much in contention, and Billy Beane isnt going to give up something for nothing, but its something that will need to be done.

I will be shocked and stunned if Sabathia isn't with the Brewers by the end of this month.

Yeah and the Brewers and Cubs play each other at the end of the month. And the Cubs would light up Sabathia and I would go to my room and cry ](*,)

Don't mean to throw this way off-topic or hijack..

Any chance Brad Nelson comes up this year before Sept. Callups? I would guess only if someone like Hart went down..

I say, let the Brewers give up preminum talent to get CC for 1/2 season rental. Then when they fail to make the playoffs, just sign CC to a Johan deal in the offseason, and only give up 2 draft picks for him.

Beane thinks all you have to do is get to the postseason and from there it's a roll of the dice whether you win it all or not. So he's not going to sell off the season anywhere near as easily as people have been talking about. I could hardly see him doing it all, and not for what the Cubs have to offer.

The problem is people are coming up with the same kind of trade proposals as the Diamondbacks did for trading for Richie Sexson. A whole lot of junk thrown together getting you a real player. That's not happening in this case. There's no names to make Billy Beane sit up and take notice. Ceda? He thinks relievers are overrated. Murton? He's flush with better outfielders. Pie? Carlos Gonzalez and Ryan Sweeney really fill the Pie niche over there.

Trading Harden is a white flag trade, no bones about it. I think he'd just have to be floored, and the Cubs aren't in a position to floor him.

Laporta/Escobar

that's fine by me

Yes. And even so, I think it will take another player or two.

Shapiro is nobody's fool, and he knows he doesn't have to trade Sabathia unless he gets exactly what he wants. Someone will get C.C., but they will overpay to do it (and if it is the Brewers, have ZERO chance of re-signing him).

Either way, if the Cubs get one of Harden/Burnett, I'm not particularly worried about it.

No.

I don't buy the Cubs as a legitimate contender, but if anyone in Brewerland thinks they can outbid the Sox or Rays without including one of LaPorta/Gamel, I need some of what they are smoking.

Again, Shapiro is going to get two good picks if he keeps C.C., so what possible reason would he have to settle for anything less than top, ML ready talent?

Also, with Pronk's precipitous decline, Shapiro is going to want some ML ready power to slot in, probably at DH. LaPorta fits the bill. Taylor and Escobar do not.
