Insiders saying Corey Patterson for Chris Britton and Bryan Bass was a done deal, instead we got Nate Spears and a lump of coal.

I thought we got a lump of coal and a lump of coal.

Well imagine what the Cubs will get if they trade for the Dreaded Pirate Roberts. I'm sure he won't be the original Roberts though.

The original Roberts is retired, living on an island in the south seas...living quite comfortably I might add.

I always called him The Dread Brian Roberts amongst friends and said it in the worst Andre The Giant accent I could, so seeing this makes me take comfort in knowing I'm not totally insane for thinking of this when I hear his name

There's really nothing solid about this deal other than being mentioned a couple times as a "good fit" for the Cubs or a "likely destination."

I'm sorry, but I don't care who people think these orioles dugout guys are, bulletin board rumors will always be very shaky.

Maybe it happens, maybe it doesn't. But please at least consider that these orioles fans might not have any clue what they are talking about.

I think it makes a difference when they've shown to be credible sources of information before.

From Rosenthals' article on the likelihood of Bedard to the Mariners...

Without Bedard, who went 13-5 with a 3.16 ERA last season and set a franchise record with 221 strikeouts, there would be little reason for the Orioles to keep Roberts, who also is two years away from free agency.

The Cubs remain the most likely fit for Roberts. The Mets made a strong run at Bedard at the general managers' meetings in November. The Indians, who have explored trades for impact players all off-season, like both Roberts and Bedard.

Perhaps the Indians could land one of the Orioles' stars, but it is highly unlikely that they could put together a blockbuster to obtain both, the way the Tigers did in acquiring third baseman Miguel Cabrera and left-hander Dontrelle Willis from the Marlins.

Credible?

They called the Tejada trade before it was done but after it was in every paper this side of the Weekly World News.

I think some of you are having your chain yanked.

It was about a week or two after anyone even mentioned it, and they had every single player involved correct, about 5 hours before any media picked it up. One of the guys also reported the Wieters signing on the day he signed when it was looking very glim, with the exact figures.

The Weekly World News claimed that Tejada had been traded for Bat Boy.

This new information just in from the "insiders" at the Orioles hangout.

The O's are working on a deal where they will get Frank Robinson from the Reds in exchange for ace pitcher Milt Pappas, pitcher Jack Baldschun and outfielder Dick Simpson.

The Weekly World News claimed that Tejada had been traded for Bat Boy.

The WWN reported that if you play "I Am The Walrus" backwards and listen carefully, you can hear John say "Brian Roberts in Cubbie bloooo"

(I listened and it sounds more like "Paul is dead")

Keep in mind that the guy who reported that it was to go down today wasn't one of the supposed Orioles insiders but just some guy who signed up at that forum this month and claims to have Cubs sources.

The O's insiders have only been saying "soon" and today they said in the next week or so.

I don't believe any of Peace, Belkast, or Bigbird said that it would go down today. Just that new guy who has no history there and isn't somebody we've even heard from before. Jan 08 signup date.

These "insiders" are clowns.

Let's hope that pic doesn't turn into gay porn.

I refreshed that picture like 100 times, looked at the code, put it on another message board...looks ok for now.

Could that (gay) moment be the top NSBB moment of '08 already?
