  1. The integrity and character both McGwire sons have shown must make Ma and Pa McGwire very proud.
  2. Now that he doesn't look like a cartoon character anymore, he actually looks a lot better. Give him his street in St. Louis back.
  3. ESPN would never allow it.
  4. He's been a pro since 2006 and has yet to have an impressive season. His overall numbers are very mediocre, and he's far from young. He is already 25 years old, with 436 professional innings following up 240 innings of major college pitching. He is what he is. At this point it would be a huge stretch to see him as a successful starter. He may turn into a decent reliever, but that wouldn't justify the investment they made in him, in terms of time, money, draft position and no trade clause. Remember this is the guy the Cubs used to justify overdrafting Colvin, and a huge portion of any prospects value is his trade value, which is zilch in the case of Samardzija. I think when all is said and done, Rudy will have had a more successful post Notre Dame career than Samardzija.
  5. 36 thousand posts Truffy and still as insightful ever.
  6. Steve Rosenbloom's view on the matter in a blog entitled "Sounds like Piniella's offseason lobotomy took" http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/rosenblog/2010/02/sounds-like-piniellas-offseason-lobotomy-took.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+rosenblog+(ChicagoSports-+RosenBlog)
  7. People in glass houses . . . . I believe LSU is looking into possible NCAA violations, according to Athletic Director Joe Alleva. Hey, my team doesn't have any potential violations. What about the recruiting violation when Reggie Bush called and helped recruit McKnight? Are you going to provide a link where Reggie acknowledged "recruiting" McKnight?
  8. People in glass houses . . . . I believe LSU is looking into possible NCAA violations, according to Athletic Director Joe Alleva. well I guess that makes what USC did fine, then. Apples and Oranges. I think a university has a lot more control over its coaches than outside agents. Doesn't the LSU incident (as Truff would say) kind of scream "lack of institutional control"?
  9. Tim Floyd should effect the football program? What a reach.

  11. Vance - Would you like to make a friendly wager on who has a better record next year - USC or LSU?
  12. Excellent and accurate post. The sustained excellent performance of the USC football program has generated a lot of envy. A lot of posters on this Board are Big Ten fans who have grown tired of getting their butts kicked by USC - hence all the whining and hoping for sanctions. If you can't beat them on the field, evidently you can still get some satisfaction out of sanctions.
  13. Serious question: how many of you recruits back out if/when sanctions come down in a few weeks? Zero. A couple of less scholarships and games on TV aren't going to matter. Seantrel Henderson disagrees Dude, the guy is from Minnesota. One look at the eight national championship trophies, all the Heisman trophy winners and the blonds on the beach on a nice 75 degree February day and a couple of games not on TV when he is a Freshman ain't going to matter much.
  14. Wasn't it Mark Twain that said "The rumor of USC's death was greatly exaggerated." Well what do you know, Lane can beat the Gators. Next time, it will be in the National Championship game. http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1048162
