DeWayne Walker back at UCLA as a DC. Now I want Loeffler or Chow.

What's with UCLA fighting for coaches I really want? Trying to steal a current one from the Titans and a prospective one from the Vols.

What do ya'll have against the state of Tennessee? We never did anything to you.

chow? he had probably the premier o.c. job in college football and left for the nfl. now he's going to leave the nfl for ucla? i think you have spent too much time at the "michigan/notre dame school for unrealistic expectations in coaching hires"

I doubt he comes either...he'd probably have to take a $500,000 paycut (and there are a whole host of other reasons I don't see him coming). But they have been in discussion.

I hope Loeffler is realistic though.

i thought they were in discussion about the h.c. job, and chow withdrew his name from that. if that's the case, then there's no logical reason that he'd have any interest in the o.c. job at ucla.

Yes. And since then, Neuheisel has been in contact with Chow and has said that he wants to bring him in as his OC.

I doubt it happens for a few reasons - the financial hit he'd take moving back to the college game and there might be hard feelings over whatever happened between Chow and UCLA during the coaching search.

i'm sure he does. while he's at it, maybe he can see if bill belichick would like to be his linebackers coach or maybe coach up the special teams.

Fair enough, you might notice I have been agreeing with you that it is extremely unlikely (and for that matter, I probably prefer the ex-Michigan QB coach due to his superior recruiting ability).

All I have to say is this Raisin... After watching the arrogant pricks from USC yesterday in the Rose Bowl, I really hope you guys get better soon, and start putting it to USC's ass. What a classless program, coach, etc...

bitter illini face

Not at all. Nobody expected the Illini to win. Im glad we got there, and the future is very bright in Champaign. This is the beginning, certainly not the end.

I dont see how anybody could watch that game and say USC wasnt a bunch of arrogant pricks. Did they score 1 td without taunting somebody, and drawing a unsportsman like penalty?

I remember two penalties - the flip into the endzone and the one where Booty found the TE in the back of the end zone.

You weren't paying close attention. There were roughly 10(maybe more, it was by far the most I'd ever seen) unsportsmanlike/personal foul penalties called in the game.(Not all on USC, there were probably 3 of them that were offsetting.

Um, 1 of only about 5 players on Illinois' roster who would have a chance at starting for USC, Arrelious Benn, also got an unsportsmanlike flag for taunting the USC band...when Illinois was already down by 4 TDs. At least USC was winning when they got their taunting flags.

I was talking about penalties after USC touchdowns which is what Keener was talking about.

My mistake. I thought they had 3 after scoring TDs, but I could be wrong. Don't remember too much after we blew what shoulda been 21-17.

ESPN reporting 5 coaches follow RR to Ann Arbor. To the interest of some board members Rod Smith QB coach is coming which means Loeffler is out the door. Mallett probably isnt far behind and if i had to guess is waiting to see where Loeffler goes before his final decision.

I would put money that you will see both Loeffler and Mallett at UCLA.

Looks like Muschamp is leaving Auburn as DC to go to Texas to serve in the same capacity.

For the second time in four years, Mack Brown has raided Tommy Tuberville's staff at Auburn to find a defensive play-caller.

Brown announced Friday that 36-year-old Will Muschamp has accepted the job as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Texas.

Muschamp replaces Larry Mac Duff, who served as co-coordinator and linebackers coach this season and resigned Wednesday. Duane Akina called the plays on defense for Texas in 2007. Akina is expected to return to coaching the secondary.

Yes, this is disappointing. Muschamp would have been the highest paid coordinator in the SEC next season if he had stayed at Auburn. Texas does receive more exposure, so I assume he believes this will make getting a big time head coaching job easier.

Chizik and Greg Robinson both went on from Texas in one year to head coaching jobs too. That might have played a factor.

I was hoping Muschamp would get the Louisiana Tech job last year, but I don't think they ever had a real shot at him. I think he will be a great head coach whenever he gets the chance.

Some interesting rumors out of West Lafayette and Madison:

Journal and Courier[/url]"]Amid reports Saturday that Paul Chryst, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Wisconsin, was in line to become Joe Tiller's successor as Purdue's head football coach, Boilermaker athletic director Morgan Burke insisted there was no imminent change in the works.

"Joe Tiller is my coach next year," was all Burke would say when contacted Saturday evening.

Reports indicated that Burke had hired an outside consulting firm to identify Tiller's replacement, with the possibility of that person joining the Purdue staff immediately and then taking over when Tiller stepped down.

It is believed that Chryst was the choice among three possible successors recommended by the consulting firm.

................

The story, after indicating that Burke had denied the reports, went on to say, "But a UW source confirmed Purdue has been in discussions with Chryst."

When contacted Saturday night, State Journal sportswriter Tom Mulhern said, "I have a reliable source at UW who confirmed everything in the (report) was 100 percent accurate."

Also, Jeff Potrykus, a sportswriter for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel wrote on that newspaper's Web site that, "Neither Chryst nor (Wisconsin head coach Bret) Bielema could be reached for comment but a source close to the team confirmed Purdue's serious interest in Chryst."

Chryst just completed his second season as the program's offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach. He also has served as the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Oregon State and has been an assistant with the San Diego Chargers in the NFL.

Wisconsin offensive line coach Bob Palic is headed back to UCLA to coach up the Bruins OL: http://www.madison.com/tct/sports/uw/football/265849

He previously was an OL coach at UCLA for one year and that was where he and Neuheisel befriended each other. Wow, Palic has coached some top-10 picks: Tony Boselli at USC, Jonathan Ogden at UCLA and Joe Thomas at Wisconsin. Not too shabby, I think this is an important hire given Neuheisel's rep of not being great with OL and not recruiting them well.
