I thought the Illini would be a better team this year strictly because we wouldn't have Richard McBride on the team. Our guards, except Brock, make poor decisions and turn the ball over too much. And don't get me started on the free throw shooting. I still see no heart from this team. We have a couple of players with it, but most play like they expect to lose.

This game was a replay of the last three years under Weber. Washington in the tournament two years ago, Penn State two years ago, Arizona last year, and Virginia Tech this year. Trent Meachem is our best player. At Illinois Trent bleeping Meachem is the best player. Bravo Bruce, oh and wipe the marker off of your face you clown.

That game was a clinic on how not to coach basektball. We got a big lead because of our bench, so Bruce doesn't sub the last 10 minutes of regulation. Our offense is laughable. Meanwhile, terrible Kevin O'Neill who is so bad he has never had a job of over three years mind you, continues to draw up actual plays. Not just some high school motion where you pass it around the perimeter for three fourths of the shot clock before giving it to some unatheltic guy who can't shoot and then watching him force up some crap.

Shaun Pruitt played the worst game I have ever seen for a guy who had 25 points on 10-10 from the field. If you box out at the end of the game Shawn we win. Also free throws, pick a form and work on it.

Chester Frazier is a joke. I really don't need to add anything to that. Once we lose to Mizzou this season ans the Weber era will be complete.

I'm sure this will cheer up you Illini fans...

Armon Bassett is suspended (no reason given) and not playing for IU today. Eric Gordon is also not playing due to his injury.

Jordan Crawford returns from his suspension today, and AJ Ratiff is academically eligible again next Saturday. Today's game with UK doesn't look nearly as good as it did an hour ago.

I was wondering what the hell that was on his face.

When Illinois starting backcourt is Chester Frazier, Trent Meachem and Calvin Brock, there is probably something wrong.

Iowa just got pushed around by Iowa State and lost 56-47. We shot 32% from the floor and actually held them to 31%. Without Freeman, our best players are freshman but they got no support. Cole had 15 points (7-10) and 9 boards and Kelly had 13 points, 5 boards and 5 assists. Man do we need him back.

Speaking of Freeman, I'm convinced he would be Illinois' best guard this year. Can anyone explain why Weber didn't offer him (in his own backyard when he wanted to go to Illinois) and chose Chester Frazier instead?

Iowa State beat Iowa 56-47 to snap a 5 game losing streak to in-state opponents. They still can't hit a shot from the floor, but Iowa couldn't create enough open shots to do anything on offense. Hopefully a week off and a couple games against low-majors will get the offense going, but it needs to improve a lot if they want to finish .500 on the season.

there should be a pretty strong crowd on hand to welcome them back after no home games for a couple weeks.

Doesn't look like it.

They were expecting around 14,000 or so, but I imagine with finals starting Monday and the freezing rain/icy roads are keeping people away.

not shocked at the DePaul loss....mediocre game travelling to the #3 team in the country didn't exactly add up to victory

Especially when it was a revenge game for Kansas AND Sherron Collins made his return today and "fatty" Wes Green didn't play because he missed the team bus before last nights shootaround.

Wainwright wasn't expected to win this game, but if he keeps losing, it could be the end of his unimpressive tenure. Thankfully.

I gave Illinois an A for the first five minutes of the game; I thought they played with heart and intensity. They turned back into the real Illinois team after that. Trent Meachem is not our best player, but I agree with your point. If Meachem had hit his second free-throw toward the end of the game, we likely win instead of going into OT. But why does the whole team shoot poorly? We have no one who I can honestly say I think can hit two straight free-throws. I'm sure they practice them. I just think this team, like last year's, has no heart. At least Brian Randle had flashes today of being aggressive and not being afraid of contact. By the way, where was Alexander today?

Kentucky is worse than I thought.

you can thank tubby smith for most of that. he left the team with nothing. the fact that meeks and jasper are hurt doesn't help things, either. patterson can't do everything inside.

UCLA came from 18 down in the first half to beat Davidson 75-63. The first half struggles are disconcerting.

Oh, and Russell Westbrook is awesome. So far this season, he's played like the best guard (on a team with Collison and Shipp).

I'm in Terre Haute covering BSU basketball, and ND has more points at halftime (57) against N. Illinois than Ball State and ISU do put together (44).

With over a 30-point lead, I'm fairly sure that the new Joyce Center win streak record will be set tonight. The Irish will get their 25th straight in South Bend.

Kentucky is bad on an epic level. It's almost like watching the 2007 Notre Dame football team....you just wonder what happened? But yeah Billy Gillespie has nothing to work with yet. I think he will be fine as long as the UK fans don't try to knife him in the back too soon. The Cats Pause message board made for interesting reading this evening. 8-)
