Yeah, looks like the Athletic Dept. straight up lied when it said that game was almost sold out on Thursday. I don't think the icy roads kept 6,000 away.

 

Great finish to pull out the win though, the crowd finally came to life late in the second half. It was nice to have the last laugh over the Purdue students who were making noise up in the nosebleeds.

Wisconsin is downed by Marquette 81-76 at the Kohl Center, ending the third longest home winning streak in the nation behind Memphis and BYU. Marquette's been playing very strongly of late, especially since that Chaminade scare. Only a four point loss to a highly ranked Duke as a blemish.

Wow. Impressive win for the Hoosiers today. Put the game away early and ran away with it. Again playing with only 2 guards. And did a lot of the damage with DJ White only playing 10 minutes in the 1st half with foul trouble.

 

Part of me thinks Sampson is trying to challenge his team. First he suspended Crawford for 3 games, with 2 tough ones on the schedule, knowing he only had 2 other guards on scholarship. Then, he doesn't play Gordon, who I'm assuming would have gone had Crawford not been available. He suspends Bassett for what looked like a big game. And he sits DJ with 2 fouls, leaving a very inexperienced team on the floor for 1/2 of the 1st half.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting that today after the news on Gordon and Bassett. Hopefully Gordon can recover and there is nothing seriously wrong. He can sit the rest of the pre-season schedule as far as I am concerned.

not shocked at the DePaul loss....mediocre game travelling to the #3 team in the country didn't exactly add up to victory

 

That was also the best we've played all year. I think DePaul has some players. They might not be great this year, but there's talent on that team.

The ever famous "violation of team rules". I'm curious too. After the game Sampson said he wasn't sure how long the suspension would last.

 

Personally I'm growing a bit tired of our players getting suspended.

While I knew he was sitting out last season due to a transfer, I forgot Maurice Acker transfered to Marquette from Ball State. I don't know if you were there when he was, but what's his potential? He's doing well in a limited role this year.

He was MAC freshman of the year the one year he was here, my sophomore year. Not that it's saying much, but he played the point better than anyone I've seen here in my four years. He was a good distributor and a decent shooter. We could use him right now.
